The OS matters to me. Where my money goes matters to me. I would rather have a Steam Deck.

Sludgehammer, w GOG: 1 million claimed the Freedom to Buy Games bundle in 24 hours
@Sludgehammer@lemmy.world avatar

And maybe ten of them will actually play any of the games.

biofaust,

I didn’t see the option, but also Huney Pop and others don’t work on Linux.

Davel23,

Works fine on my Steam Deck.

TachyonTele,

Can you just add them as nonsteam games?
Where do you install them to?

9point6,

Lutris is very likely your friend here

Ya, looking over the list I couldn’t be bothered to obtain a copy of “Helping The Hotties”.

Davel23,

Really? You'd leave the hotties unhelped?

9point6,

Oh yeah I saw the list and am pretty sure I’m not even installing any of them, but claiming the bundle in solidarity

sk1nnym1ke, w Please, don't post articles "this/that store ban nsfw content": it's payment system (like Visa/MasterCard) that want to regulate/take control of censorship above your government.

They could have implented this solution:

If you use payment service X you can only buy games A, B, C

If you use payment service Y you can buy all the games

Pyro,

My understanding is part of it is that payment processor says stop doing it or we drop you all together. Not a we won’t be involved but lose them as an avenue.

Their way or highway, no real middle ground posible

Good luck to Lenovo and all the others, but the Steam Deck has changed my life and it’s such a versatile and magical device for a modest price, and Windows-free to boot, that I’m not even considering any of these other ones.

xpinchx, w Weekend PC Game Deals: Focused specials, stealth bundles, and free heists

Deceive inc is pretty fun with friends.

spacemanspiffy, w Counter-Strike 2: Beyond Global

I am excited about the game and all but what happened to just a server list? I fail to see how that isn’t way better.

Chewy7324,

Server lists have it’s place and I hate how many current multiplayer games don’t expose it (they most definetly have it for development purposes).

But most people playing these competetive games want a rank to compare themselves and also be able to rank up. They also want to be placed in a match according to their skill group eithout wauting for someone to leave. A server list isn’t compatible with those features.

At least that’s what I gathered from people online and my friends who were opposed to messing around in a private lobby. Luckily CS:2 will most definetly have private server support with server lists and mods.

chemsed, w Just got my first entry level gaming pc! i have about 30 bucks to spend, what should i get for it?

Here are my recommandations on what is better on PC because of the advantage of mouse and keyboard vs controller by genre:

Strategy: the first thing I wanted to do when I bought my PC is to play Age of Empire 2 and Starcraft 2 and they still are the top games of the genre. It’s night and day compared to their console games like Halo Wars. I recommend also the Civilisation series.

Simulators: Cities Skylines and Microsoft flight simulator are fun games and nothing looks like it on console.

MOBA: AFAIK, MOBAs like DOTA 2 and League of Legends only exist on PC because it’s unplayable on controller. I don’t like these kinds of games, but it’s still something that you won’t find on console.

FPS: A mouse let you have better control on your aim, but it’s less relevant in games with crossplay multiplayer where the aim assist on controller is strong like in Apex Legends and Halo Infinite. Recently, a lot of people enjoy Battlebit.

Awall,

Although Cities Skylines is the goat city builder it’s not the cheapest game in the world with all of the DLC which adds a huge amount to the game. I’d definitely wait it out with CS2 right on the horizon. If you can get the first game on a wicked sale it’s still worth it but CS2 is looking amazing!

…LICENSE… FRON … VALVE! STEAMOS! NOT WINDOWS!

ILikeBoobies,

Lenovo already has good Linux support, why would they need to use SteamOS?

taanegl,

To actually ship SteamOS. Logo on the box and everything.
