exactly that was my thought on Borderlands 3.
And after gatting it for free my realisation was that it even is the worst part in the whole series. Not bad, but the story isn't that overwhelming as the stories in BL1 or BL2 had been.
I've said this on smash forums before and had the toxic side of the fanbase lose their shit over it, but the next Smash Bros iteration should be a complete reset on the roster and that roster's movesets. e.g. Samus Aran should be reworked to incorporate skills from Samus Returns, Fusion, the Prime series and Dread. Right now her moveset is stuck on her Super Metroid form. Link should be reworked to be more based on BotW/TotK. Mario should be reworked to incorporate Odyssey, Galaxy and Wonder.
I LOVE the Smash franchise and have devoted thousands of hours of my life to the series - but that doesn't change many characters growing stale and being trapped in their pasts. Right now Smash celebrates gaming legacies, but it should be changed to celebrate more than just the distant legacies. The last 10 years of most characters are completely ignored by the current roster. It should celebrate those characters' futures too.
It would also be nice if celebrated a larger percentage of the non-Japanese side of things, if they go back to guest characters. Other than better netcode, the way you make a smaller roster make sense is if you flip the game on its head with a new set of universal mechanics, like how Street Fighter 5 to Street Fighter 6 is acceptable because everything is about the Drive system.
Kbin and lemmy are still relatively small things, so it’s hard to get a steady flow of content in more niche communities and there is allways the real possibility that multiple communities exist for a specific topic, but their members are unaware of the others.
But yeah, i’d enjoy specialized single game communities, hell i especially miss the various magic the gathering communities.
@Dunstabzugshaubitze I know there's magictcg@lemmy.world for Magic but yeah it seems like the Kbin and Lemmy communities have a long way to grow just need more people using it to then fill the smaller communities.
"the minor bugs and issues that Bethesda hasn’t quite gotten to yet". I don't know any of those, I only know the ones they will willfully ignore for eternity 🙄
Good job, community patch people, saviours of Bethesda games.
Ah yes, of course immediately after they got all of the money for the things that scalpers bought out instantly, and are now going to be resold for triple the price online. So, so sorry.
Top review on the 2nd version you posted says this:
“For some reason, EA delisted the original version of Mass Effect 2 on Steam and replaced it with a newer version that seems identical in everything except two aspects. Firstly, it now includes all DLC, which previously required you to buy them on the EA launcher and then manually download and transfer them to the Steam version. This process was not intuitive, but now it’s all included at no additional cost and hassle-free. Secondly, it now requires the EA launcher, which is annoying but not a huge deal in the end. However, it does create a situation where we have two nearly identical versions of the game in our libraries, which is a bit odd. I suppose this could’ve been an update instead.”
Thank you everyone to lighten me up. Now I understand. While the newer version have all DLCs included, it requires the launcher now? The older version didn't use the launcher, when I understand the comment correctly. So when I play the game, I probably would play the oldest without DLCs, but also not relying on an additional EA launcher.
It's a shame that well-balanced TCGs are so hard to find because the booster model is much more popular, you know, because it lures gambling addicts. So these games keep going and releasing sets with inevitable power creep.
It'd be nice to find some games to play casually vs CPU or easy to play with friends. I like card games in theory but just the thought of playing with other people with thousands of hours of ranked play saps my enthusiasm.
if you want a tabletop experience similar to that, find a Living Card Game (LCG) that speaks to you. Generally they’re designed like tcgs but you buy an entire box at a time and play that as its own contained experience, those tend to be great. Other options are finding discord servers for playing something like Magic/Pokemon over Cockatrice or Untap.in or some other virtual tabletop, that way you can get the play experience of a tcg without needing to engage with its economy at all
Lastly, I know you can probably google “games like slay the spire” and find Monster Train or Across the Obelisk and be pretty satisfied with those but in a broader sense, look into roguelike games. The gameplay loop of roguelikes i’ve found scratches a similar “buildcraft” itch to something like an MtG draft, and while they arent card games I get a lot of the same fun of finding and exploring synergies from games like The Binding of Isaac, Hades, Wizard of Legend, or Risk of Rain 2
Yea, just got to that part. It also seems that they plan on keeping the previous subscriptions running while additionally leeching off successfully games.
At least the free games don’t have to pay the penalty.
