I loved Dark Siders 2, it got me into Action RPGs! Didn’t like how the combat and movement felt in DS1 and DS3 has been collecting dust in my library for ages but I’m so happy that the franchise is staying alive and I guess thats my sign to finally play DS3 before 4 releases.
I‘m happy for fans to get more, but the franchise never managed to grab me. And it‘s really hard to explain why since I don‘t have anything bad to say about the games I‘ve played. I guess they play it so safe that they‘re bland and unmemorable to me. Like it‘s less an engaging work of art and more a piece of homework by the book that‘s trying hard to be inoffensive and completely risk-averse to not upset the teacher.
But that’s just my opinion anyway, and not every game has to be for me.
Edit: There was no DLC bs in the games I‘ve played though, just complete games. I wanna explicitely praise that.
I only played 1 and the very beginning of 2. First one had that weird brawler/edgy Legend of Zelda mix that kinda filled a void at the time for me. It was not incredible, but it was well made and fun.
Now that I think about it, it was around the time I got a 360 because Nintendo had nothing to release for a while, and among a few other games, I got Bayonetta, this and Lords of Shadow. That was a very brawly period in my library.
Not sure why I didn’t get far in 2. I got it on Wii U, in a bundle if I remember correctly. I mostly remember a very dark and rocky starting area that must not have caught my interest.
Wow, what a trip down the memory lane! I got DS1 together with my 360 as well, which also was my first console ever. Did thoroughly enjoy it, probably because it was a fairly small selection of games. But at the time the setting and themes were very interesting to me. Got very hyped when 2 was released, maybe hoping for the same high, but it simply did not click with me.
