Got:

Halo: master collection for €10 Broforce €3 Prey €3

Not a hidden gem but whenever it’s on sale I personally recommend: Enter the Gungeon!

A rogue-lite/like? Game that has puns for everything gun and bullet related.

See if you can survive the Gungeon and kill your past!

“Kill your past, you already damned your future!”

fleet,

Enter the Gungeon is amazing. I just played through Hades, and while it’s a great game, Enter the Gungeon is still my favorite roguelite.

Unfortunately not at all. I was excited for Persona 5 Royal and was prepared to purchase it again (got it on PS5). Wanted to play it with a Trainer for fun.

However the discount is meh for an rebuy, it’s like €35(?). Was more hoping for €15-20.

spriteblood,

I'm waiting for them to remove Denuvo DRM before I buy. I'd love to play it on PC with higher resolution (and hopefully framerates) but that DRM is a dealbreaker for me, unfortunately.

ModernRisk,

If they remove Denuvo, I won’t buy it very honestly. The community I’m in should say enough hah.

But yeah, you’re right. Best thing even for legit players is Denuvo being removed.

DoctorButts,

P5R is mildly tempting even though I also own it for PS4. I think I will pass on it until it goes under $20. I also want to hang onto my gaming cash in case Persona 3 Reloaded ends up being legitimately good.

ModernRisk,

I’m very curious as well about Persona 3 Reload! I’ll wait a few months after it is out to see the reviews and overall game.

Stillhart, do gaming w Steam Sale Games

Might finally pick up Risk of Rain 2…

Malice,

Recommend you do, it’s a pretty great game. And if mods are your jam, there’s a ton of them that add a lot of content to the game.

mosiacmango,

DLC is also 100% worth it. Adds lots of depth, extra items, charectors and levels, and in level item “mutators” that completely change how important items work if you want.

Super good. Makes a fun and deep game more fun and deeper.

We all have hundreds of games that are $0, it’s called “all the games in your steam account you already own that you haven’t played yet”.

ampersandrew,
@ampersandrew@kbin.social avatar

Yeah, but we already know what those are. These games that we didn't buy yet are new to us and, therefore, shiny.

detectivemittens,

Gotta collect ‘em all!

But that's way too many choices, it stresses me out.

Vodulas,

Am I weird for not having a backlog? I have games I haven’t played much of, usually because it didn’t click with me, but can’t thing any that I have never played.

MJBrune,

I have almost 1000 games. There are certainly genres I own but don’t want to even install. The games that I haven’t played are those I don’t want to play but somehow ended up owning. Probably through bundle deals.

Vodulas,

The bundles might be the thing. I rarely buy them, so don’t end up with games I know I won’t like. No shame, btw, I was just curious.

MJBrune,

Yeah I stopped buying bundles. They aren’t as good anymore. Humble bundle used to be far better.

I snagged a bunch of Williams pinball tables already. Very excited to be able to play No Good Gophers in the comfort of my own home.

May also finally pull the trigger on Cyberpunk now.

MrGerrit, (edited )

I was tempted to buy some tables for pinball FX but I already have all available tables for fx3 and it feels like I’m keep buying them and they release a new version of the game/engine so I have to rebuy them again for the better experience…

six_arm_spider_man,
@six_arm_spider_man@reddthat.com avatar

I get that. I didn’t rebuy anything I already have. I have tables scattered across all 3 versions of PinballFx out there and it’s super irritating.

spriteblood,

FWIW I can't speak to the pre-2.0 update but I'm having a lot of fun with Cyberpunk 2077. Solid AAA game, and it seems like they hammered out a lot of the performance issues from earlier in its life.

toastus, do gaming w Steam Sale Games

Disco Elysium is a good one but I know I don’t have the time right now.

Maybe I get me another Metroidvania.
I have Blasphemous (which I think was already on sale), Bloodstained RotN or Sundered EE on my wishlist, but again I would probably just make the pile of shame grow.

EsteeBestee,

Haiku, the Robot is a very fun metroidvania that you can blast through in under 10 hours if you want something in that genre, but also something short and sweet that wont consume two weeks of your life.

flamingarms,

I’ve played a few hours of Ender Lilies. It’s a metroidvania where you play a young priestess who is protected by spirits that you equip to attack for you. It’s pretty, has solid music, and the combat so far has been pretty fun and well-balanced for me. Grow the shame pile…

elauso,

I envy you for not having played Disco Elysium yet. Hope you find the time soon :)

deegeese, do gaming w Steam Sale Games

Project Highrise was like $3.60

Deconceptualist, do gaming w Steam Sale Games

Meh. I’m seeing a lot of prices that aren’t even that close to historical lows. e.g. Mass Effect Legendary was $10 somewhere recently but now it’s $12 on Steam (though I’m not giving EA any money for it until they fix the stupid launcher for good on Steam Deck).

Prototype is like $4 though, might snag that if I don’t already own a copy elsewhere.

BmeBenji,

palpatine voice do it.

Prototype is among the most fun open world games to just screw around in. Right up there with Marvel’s Spider-man and Just Cause 3

ampersandrew,
@ampersandrew@kbin.social avatar

One of the worst protagonists in all of video games, but it is also a lot of fun.

Deconceptualist,

Some others:

  • Cloudbuilt, currently $6.99, lowest $2.99
  • Dead Cells, currently $ 14.99, lowest $11.99
  • Tropico 5 Complete, currently $23.81, lowest $9.99
  • XCOM 2 Collection, currently $11.88, lowest $6.99
Lojcs,

Steam reviews for prototype aren’t very positive

typoid, do gaming w How are you all playing these insanely complex games?

If you’re really struggling to click with a game, I’ve found watching a “let’s play” on YouTube helps me out.

Koordinator_O, do gaming w How are you all playing these insanely complex games?

Reading the title i thought about titles like mech engineer or the like where you almost have to read a 50 pages manual. Not Deep Rock Galactic 0.0

Hades, Binding of Isaac

Don_alForno, do gaming w How are you all playing these insanely complex games?

Or does each game just build on top of working knowledge of previous similar Games?

This. There is a sort of gaming DNA that you just internalize over time. I’ve been gaming for 30 years, I just know how that one breakable wall looks, that you need to come back to once you get bombs or whatever it is. I know the difference between a caster, a fighter and a rogue when I see them without knowing the exact details of their ability mechanics in this particular game. My intuition as to how a given ability is most likely going to work is also usually pretty close. Because they are often very similar across different games.

Also if you don’t know and don’t have to have the absolute optimal combination from square one, just pick what looks cool and try it. If it doesn’t work out, try something else. Most games allow respecs nowadays. We learn through failure and repitition.

Skipper_the_Eyechild,

Baldurs Gate allows “respeccing” too, which I presume is respecialistion?

It puts you back to level one, let’s you change class entirely even, but you keep your experience so you can level all the way up again straight away, making different choices.

Have a look at Dwarf Fortress too. It could melt your brain.
