It’s all part of a probe to gauge sympathy for an Alien race orbiting an unstable star system, hoping to relocate to Earth and build an army of sympathisers.
The physics in 4 were the best in the series IMO. The car handling was perfect, and not MidnightClub-style arcadey (point and vroom).
Plowing through pedestrians at the park had real replay value in GTA IV, with very interesting reactions each time. In GTA V this became somewhat canned in terms of animation diversity.
GTA IV felt grimey and real to me. I loved it. Just wish they had planes and parachutes (albeit Ballad of Gay Tony brought the latter in)
This will get better as NN/AI chips become the norm in gaming. Compression gains, on the fly generation of textures, voice generation when needed, etc.
I envision a future dev using rough shitty textures to conceptualise a game, and then an NN to bring it to life during runtime.
You might even be able to load your own NN interpreter to make the world more cartoony, or change the intended setting entirely, or unlock the nsfw filter on the vanilla interpreter.
More of the same! More of the same! Oh please Lord, let it be more of the exact same boring safe realistic dreck that has been the GTA series for the past 5 years
I’ve never played Far Cry, but you’ve described the kill-spree momentum I used to enjoy in games - specifically the outcome of a previous action being the entry point for another, with no slowdown - making it feel fluid and dynamic.
The closest thing that matches that sheer freedom of gameplay, was the swing physics of Spiderman 2 on the PS2. No other spiderman game has come close to that, and I’ve played then all.
