I don’t know if I have met anyone complaining about Ciri being the protagonist of Witcher 4. Even the most conservative people I know who are fans of the series are pumped about her being the main character because they love the story and it’s the only logical way forward. The only complaints I have heard are that in universe she’s kind of overpowered for a video game protagonist. I think people whining about this are fake fans or just agitators who don’t even play these games.
Idk. I think gamers are overly upset about $80 games. While I am sympathetic to not wanting the price to go up, the fact of the matter is that brand new video games cost pretty much the same as they did 30 years ago, while the cost of everything else has basically doubled in that time. I know it’s probably not what is going to happen but if $80 video games are what it takes to get us away from shitty microtransactions in full price games, then I’m all for it. I know the crowd on Lemmy will just say they should make less profit and do neither but that’s just not how the world works right now and nobody is going to do that.

Gas is actually cheaper now than it used to be when I started driving in the 2010s. At that time, gas was over $4 a gallon at times and $4 was worth more back then. It still blows my mind that most of the people whining about gas prices are out here buying giant trucks and SUVs that get like 20 mpg on the highway, meanwhile my experience with gas prices made me rank fuel efficiency as one of my top priorities in a new vehicle.
I will say I kind of get annoyed at this. Not really on principle because I am all for inclusivity but on some games it’s legitimately hard to tell which one I’m picking and I don’t personally want my character to be trans (male voice, female body) in most games. In Avowed the character selection screen has your character in clothing that kind of obscures the body shape and I was like “are there boobs on this one? I can’t actually tell.” I’m apparently bad enough at this where I usually have to use the clothing off button if there is one to conclusively tell the difference. Helldivers 2’s “Brawny” and “Lean” are pretty good but those characters are in heavy armor and either one could plausibly be either biological sex. Baldurs Gate 3 uses the terms “masc” and “femme” which is less confusing but that game also lets you do any combo of muscles, voice, titties, and genetalia you want, which kind of eliminates the whole confusion in the first place since it’s all customizable. I totally get not wanting to label things but I am dumb and just want to know what I’m picking.
Well like I don’t want to get surprised if in the game I take my armor or clothes off and there are boobs there, especially in games where there’s not an option to change later
Like pretty much any game made before like 2020? It is only pretty recently that any games added the option to change that, and some games still don’t have the option.
Is there a way to play these games on PC or at least on the Switch or something? I know obviously I could pirate them but I was wondering if a proper port had ever been made.
