damnedfurry, do games w Linux gamers on Steam finally cross over the 3% mark

The vast majority of the increase, is what I said. In other words, I’m saying it wouldn’t be nearly at the 3% mark without those users, and with over a quarter of all Linux users coming from the Steam Deck userbase, that is, in fact, true.

Just boot the computer, choose which DE you want to install

Yeah, that’s not at all accessible to the average consumer; they don’t know what a “DE” even is, much less why they should choose any over any other.

Very, very few people want to deal with something other than a ‘just works’ situation.

I think it will continue to rise. People are updating their rigs all the time. Whenever they update their rig they’ll have to ask themselves whether they want to continue with Windows on their new rig, or try with something new.

The vast majority of this increase is from people playing on Steam Decks, which run on Linux, not from people switching to Linux on their PCs.

If it continues to rise, this is the reason. The general public is less and less into using a desktop at all as time goes on, much less running, and much less changing to, an extremely niche operating system on one.

EDIT: The previous sentence is actually more of the reason, upon further reflection. The total number of people playing on desktops period is falling, and the vast majority of desktops are Windows, so non-Windows OSes will comparatively gain ‘market share’ as that happens, even if their numbers don’t change at all.

damnedfurry, do gaming w Imagine being this cool

It was a 4-person tournament, what kind of prize pool do you think that’s going to have? lol

damnedfurry, do gaming w Imagine being this cool

It looks like she was playing in these events all throughout her pregancy, including a win at 7 months.

damnedfurry, do gaming w Imagine being this cool

Credit where credit’s due, but it seems like great pains have been taken to hide the fact that this was a tournament of 4 players.

Looks like she also had a 1st place finish in this tournament, which had over triple the entrants (14), and she did it while 7 months pregnant—that’s much more impressive, imo.

damnedfurry, do gaming w Heroic motivation

Now that I think of it, in the DKC games, I don’t recall anyone or anything being ‘killed’, enemies would just get knocked off the 2D plane you’re on. They don’t explode or vanish etc. like in SMB3 or ALttP.

damnedfurry, do games w Anyone else suddenly itching to blast Nazis in Wolfenstein for no reason at all?

It’s probably people who think no matter what, every single life is precious and should be preserved.

I doubt it’s that, simply because the OP is not talking about doing anything to anyone in the real world.

damnedfurry, (edited ) do games w Anyone else suddenly itching to blast Nazis in Wolfenstein for no reason at all?

The type of ‘anger management’ described in the OP is unhealthy and doesn’t even help you feel better, short or long term. ‘Blowing off steam’/venting literally does the opposite of what most people believe it does.

Edit: Looks like some people don’t like being called out for their unproductive behavior, lol. I answered the question.

It’s getting harder and harder each day to tell this place apart from Reddit, lol.

damnedfurry, do games w What's the greatest joy you have gotten from a video game?

It’s unfortunate the Viagra and Cialis didn’t do the trick, but we do have an alternate treatment we can try.

damnedfurry, do games w PEGI gives Balatro an 18+ rating for gambling imagery

It’s exactly as long as it needed to be to explain everything it explained, and it is a completely dry comment with no real tone at all, the “rudeness” is of your own invention.

Ironically, “Firstly you could read user names before going off” is far ruder than anything I wrote. Also, you’re assuming I’m the one who downvoted you–have you considered that maybe your tone earned that from someone else, maybe?

damnedfurry, do games w PEGI gives Balatro an 18+ rating for gambling imagery

But it has to be for something. And in Balatro, there simply isn’t any gambling. You never wager anything to win anything based on that wager. All you have are points, and you can neither wager them, nor lose them in any way, chance-based or otherwise.

There is zero gambling in Balatro.

damnedfurry, do games w PEGI gives Balatro an 18+ rating for gambling imagery

Minor correction, the three stages in an “ante” are the “blinds”. The game instead uses “stake” to describe its ‘ascension’ system (a common mechanic in roguelixe games, where going to a higher ascension/“stake” adds difficulty modifiers to the game, for those who don’t know what I mean by that).

Going off? Yeah, you asked a question, and I answered it. What are you talking about?

damnedfurry, do games w PEGI gives Balatro an 18+ rating for gambling imagery

A game just has to show characters gambling for it to be gambling imagery.

Okay. Well, Balatro doesn’t do that–no gambling of any kind happens in the game.

So, what’s your point, exactly?
