Yeah the fact that the basic 4x LMB into RMB combo is basically the only combo you can do kinda blows. The abilities do mix it up, but only a little. I hope it gets better since I’m only like 7-8 hours into the game and there’s still new stuff being added to the combat, but it does make a really bad first impression.

I still have a hearty backlog tho and I know Like A Dragon is waiting so the horizon is looking good. And I’m gonna buy Expedition 33 this Christmas sale.

Just bounced off of Elden Ring again. It’s a good game but idk starting a fresh playthrough just feels like a slog. And jumping back into my overheated character feels boring. I should remove it from my “favorite game” section on Steam but idk what should replace it.

Another game I’m way more into than I thought is Final Fantasy XVI. I’m not a huge FF fan and have gotten a lot less interested in turn based combat as I got older, so I really like this direction FF is heading into.

Clive and Sid’s VAs sound like 30 years older than their characters and the amount of cutscenes is quite overwhelming, but I’m invested.

I had it on my wishlist for quite some time and the reason why I finally pulled the trigger was a short 50 sec video of someone annihilating a deer with the power of god.

If you like this type of game and want more I recommend the YouTube channel Kirk Collects. He covers boomer shooters a lot and this game was also in his latest roundup. youtube.com/

Ahh that game is so great but I hate it and can never get far in it. It both scratches a itch that almost no other game can yet is so exhausting to play I can never keep at it for more than a couple hours.

Bro people are already jizzing their pants at the reveal this is set in Japan, you can get way more out of them than $120. Base game won’t be under $70 for sure.
And also like 2 tiers of advanced access (maybe 2 and 5 days).

Prolly gonna happen with advanced access

Ye but they get old after a while. Hope FH6 is going to be more its own game. I really felt like 5 was just a map pack for 4. But uh that’s a different conversation.

Please don’t let this be $80, but I’m afraid that this is likely what it’s gonna cost :/

ThunderComplex, do games w Silent Hill f | Review Thread

My fav tidbit about this game is the Wikipedia section “development”. I quote:

Konami felt it had become overly westernized

Bitch you the ones that took the IP away from Team Silent and gave it to western devs who had no clue what to do with it.
Now they smell there’s money to be made and are cashing in.
And they are cashing in hard. I will never buy a $80 game.

ThunderComplex, do games w Are those of us who grew up on older games more attuned to latency?

I get what you’re trying to say but I’ve definitely experienced performance problems even on lowest settings.
The issue isn’t that everyone tries to run the game maxed out. The issue is that fundamental problems are often left in the games that you can’t just fix by lowering quality settings.

ThunderComplex, do games w Are those of us who grew up on older games more attuned to latency?

No. The thing is AAA games are now being released in an unoptimized state way too often. Even if you still get good FPS microstuttering and short lag spikes still occur frequently.

Of course this can make you wonder if this is a you problem and you just got too sensitive.

Nope, this is an industry problem. Why would you optimize a game? No, legitimately asking. It doesn’t affect sales numbers, it often doesn’t significantly tank your steam review score (that most publishers don’t care about), there are practically no downsides to not optimize your game.
But if you do value optimization, it lowers dev velocity, requires more training/awareness for devs and artists, and you won’t be able to ship as fast anymore. And on top of that you get… nothing. A few more sales maybe?

ThunderComplex, do games w Are those of us who grew up on older games more attuned to latency?

I had a super underpowered PC I grew up with and it influenced my imagination. For a long time stuff I’d imagine also ran at like 15-20FPS. Really weird effect.
