So you bring an external mouse with your steamdeck? If that works for ya, more power to you.
Sometimes I need to pop quickly into the desktop so for my use case, bringing an external mouse would definitely inconvenience me. That’s when the trackpads come in handy.
I agree with you. The pace of crafting to progress is slow. The story forces you to uncover it by exploring further and deeper. The distress calls nudge you in the right directions.
My last playthrough I was determined to beat the game. It took 50 hours and at the end I got frustrated because just when I thought I was at the end, they wanted me to grind even more for some hard to craft materials which would require me to dive far and deep and look for things while things were dangerous.
Exhausted, I used a single console command to give myself the thing I didn’t want to grind for and bam. Completed. The games a marathon. It’s entertaining, scary, interesting, and tedious. I’m not interested in any sequels.
Baldurs Gate. There is so much content. I’m 150 hours in the game, I play split screen coop with my wife. We each have our characters customized to how we like it. It’s AAA quality. Came at a AAA price, but it’s absolutely worth it.
And I say this as a FPS/simulation gamer. Totally different genre but they’ve made this game accessible to all. It’s the only game I’ve ever purchased at full price and my steam account is 12 years old.
Also don’t buy this because like the previous flight simulator, they will restrict you to slow Microsoft servers so your first 150 hours in-game will actually just be downloading additional content at whatever speed Microsoft has limited their servers. 5MBPs? Maybe sometimes!
My ISP will automatically throttle my house if I was slurping up that much bandwidth. It simply isn’t feasible for most people as ISPs usually throttle speeds when they detect sustained high bandwidth activity.
Neat! Thank you for taking the time to make such a comprehensive review. Sounds like it’s up my alley! I enjoyed Frostpunk and the Tropico series (as well as Banished although I thought it was sort of boring after a while).
