Seconding Forbidden Island/Desert/Sky. Island is what I break out to introduce new folks to co-op gameplay, then switch to Desert once they get the hang of it.
Pandemic hits a lot of the same notes, and can get really hairy at the end.
I see the app as the DM. Plus, you can tell it what expansions you own, and it includes it all when it makes the map — you can play the same scenario and get different layouts.
I bought a cheap silicone grip case for my 3DS XL. Night and day difference. Not so cheap was the Satisfye Switch grip, but they both make playing handheld so much more pleasant. Both *systems sacrificed ergonomics for portability. Adding grips reduces portability in exchange for ergonomics. I’m okay with that.
A guy I used to work with was convinced the whole thing was a scam. “Did his own research” and determined that all he needed was the console to upgrade his Wii. So he bought one secondhand. For his kids. Didn’t quite work out the way he had hoped. Eventually broke down and bought the pad etc.
He was not the brightest bulb, just the type to think of himself as such.
If you’re familiar with the English versions, navigating the menus in Japanese isn’t bad. The whole roster can be edited, and part of that is being able to change the names to romaji/English. I believe there’s a patch available to take care of most if not all of that. Let me see if I saved the post where someone else told me about it.
Back in the day I did all of those edits by hand on the physical cart. I still have the cart… one day I’ll boot it up again in the hope that the battery hasn’t died.
I would like to introduce both of you to the wonders of Virtual Pro Wrestling and VPW2, Japan-only games using the same engine. VPW2 tops No Mercy IMO, if for nothing else than by the sheer breadth of the roster. It’s just a shame that out of the box so many wrestlers needed so much tweaking to get around the lack of licensing. But the fact that it was possible to “fix” everyone was fantastic.
I am far from mighty. If anything, I am straight up bad at combat. On my first master mode playthrough I did duck into the castle to get the shield, but afterwards went right back to do/find all the things mode.
I appreciate all of the discourse. But I would like to clarify that the OP clearly states that one’s Smash main is how they are in the sheets. As someone who does not play Smash, that means I do not exist in the sheets. Whatever the proper terminology is, fair is fair, and I accept my fate.

…just as long as everyone knows that IRL I have lots and lots of sex sometimes. With actual people. Sometimes more than one. This is all very true and I totally would not lie on the internet.
