Well then can we flame them (rockstar) for turning off Linux support on GTA V Online? I know the exact same anticheat works on linux, because I am playing Dune online and it’s working just fine. So yeah, back to that, fuck rockstar!
You left out 5 1/4 floppy disks that were actually floppy. Yes, I know there are 8" floppies but those were mostly business use and specialized drives that you didn’t really get in the home computer market. Atari, Commodore, Radio Shack, etc all had 5 1/4" floppy drives, and when I got my first box of floppies, it was $50 of early 1980’s money for 10 disks. And on my Atari they held about 90K worth of space.
How about getting rid of casual Snow Day. I got on a year or so ago and you couldn’t even play Snow Day as they moved it to some rotating schedule where it was swapped out every other month with some other game mode. Who does shit like that?
A whole lot of negative replies about the Switch2, but for me it was a matter of timing. My og switch battery is failing, and I wanted to be able to play handheld or on the go again without having a huge battery pack strapped to it. So I picked up a Switch 2. I might even try attempting to replace the Switch battery now that I have a fully portable console again.
I don’t like that you cannot turn on the Switch 2 using the Home button on a original Pro Controller. That does piss me off quite a bit because I am not shelling out the cash for a Pro Controller 2. Other than that I do like the new speed with which it can play games.
I guess the real pisser here was that the online component worked just fine. They made an active decision to just cut off linux players which was a real dick move.
I played GTA V online with three of my friends, and had about 900 hours of play. Then one day, bam, they literally cut anyone using Linux off from being able to connect to the servers. It just leaves a real bad taste in my mouth, because I would have probably gone to RDR2 next, and might have even bought RDR on my Switch. Voting with my wallet is all I can do, and at this point it feels like voting for a president. My tiny little vote won’t really amount to much, but hey at least I can feel good about standing on my principals. Like someone else said, they have 30 year backlog of games, and I have similar. So not playing either GTA V online anymore or buying GTA VI won’t really affect me in the long run as far as hindering my enjoyment of other games so there’s that…
Well that’s a ripe take on this. Evidently you don’t know anyone who runs Linux and played GTA V online. Rockstar can fuck right off for what they pulled. Definitely didn’t earn any trust, and Windows users should be wary as well since they did that with no notice and no fucks given to a portion of their paid users.
