Oof, that would drive me crazy and be a refund request. I’ll never claim that either is superior (and I’m sure I’m in the minority for being used to inverted), but not having the option to change it is inexcusable. I don’t know the percentage, but that’s got to be a significant portion of people that are so used to it, they can’t switch!
Or just y’know: provide a service, make a profit, provide people with stable jobs, keep on going. I know it sounds crazy, but you don’t have to have all the money…
There’s a lot of reasons why emailing passwords is not the best practice… But AI bots stealing your password to give people free demos is a wild paranoid fever dream.
While Elon’s then-partner Grimes was recording her part in the game as cyborg popstar Lizzy Wizzy, the erratic tech billionaire turned up with an antique firearm to “insist” on being included in the game. “The studio guys were like sweating,” Grimes is quoted as saying. That… actually doesn’t answer it. If the games I paid for only exist on my hard drive and not on any store… what happens when the drive eventually fails?
Okay, thanks! You’re right, that’s the main thing I care about. The far-superior Original Xbox version of GTA: San Andreas (among others) can only be played on Xbox and Xbox 360…
Definitely the ones that simply aren’t available. If I ever get my PC upgraded, I know I can download emulators, but in the meantime, several incredible games are simply not playable. Since I was an Xbox kid I am currently revisiting:
Jet Set Radio Future
Ninja Garden Black
GTA: San Andreas (the original, far-superior one. It didn’t add visual/gameplay glitches and all the amazing songs are still in it, unlike the “Definitive” Edition)
The thing is, my old consoles still work. It’s the controllers that are bad. I have dozens of original Xbox, 360, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One controllers that drift, are flat-out broken, or a button is just wonky. My solution? An adapter that lets modern controllers work with old consoles! I use the Brooks Wingman XB2, but there are others. My favorite controller ever is the Xbox Elite Series 2. It is not just customizable, but sturdy and has outlasted many of my other controllers. So now I can play retro games, wirelessly, with zero latency, with turbo functionally!
To be perfectly clear, I have no affiliation with either company and gain zero benefit if they double in profits, or die out and close up shop. I’m just a fan…
Oh really? Every SSD has an end date, you can’t overwrite them. Yet Microsoft has a special (encrypted) partition in the internal XBOX that has to match the main board. Because of this, you can’t simply open it and swap the drive. In many cases, cloning the partition has failed necessitating sending the entire thing to Microsoft to fix (for a fee).
Thank you for your response. I get what you’re saying but no matter what your stance on piracy is, it’s gonna happen. Absolutely inevitable. If (but mostly when) that encrypted partition is broken, they will load up a new 4TB SSD loaded with games they didn’t pay for, add the encrypted partition, pop it in their Xbox Series X, and they’re off to the races!
But in the meantime, absolutely everyone suffers. Anyone who has an SSD fail (remember: they have limited write cycles!) will pay the price in lost saves and time/money spent sending it to Microsoft. And after the encryption is defeated? Then only legitimate Xbox gamers who pay for their games will be hurt by this. And keep in mind it also adversely affects the less technologically-skilled people more.
So in summary, yes; I absolutely will blame Microsoft for implementing a measure that will only slightly slow down piracy attempts while permanently punishing and inconveniencing everyone else…
