BURN, do games w Cities: Skylines II - Performance, Post-Release Plans & Goals

Because it shouldn’t be released if it needs a disclaimer. People are fed up with half finished games being sold at full price with “promises” of fixes in the future

100% a top of the line cpu and gpu should not have problems running the game on max settings. It’s so weird seeing everyone defend a game with terrible performance if you want to exercise any of the graphics options

That’s also true, and is often my experience in non-shooter games.

However it does work out that the lowest common denominator doesn’t care if they didn’t do anything. They’re just happy to win. The couch casuals aren’t ever going to be great, so their standard of a great game is much, much lower than anyone who plays daily or even every few days

Even in games where votekick doesn’t exist this level of toxicity does, and it’s often because of the manipulated matchmaking algorithms putting them in that bad mood and inflating their Ego.

Nope. It just says it does that.

Good players and bad players are both outliers. If you assign a numerical value to the players it’ll more likely try to balance the teams more than anything. I’ll put together an example.

P1: 100 - Best Player in the game

P2: 50 - Average Player

P3: 40 - Just below average

P4: 2 - Brand New to the game

To match these 4 players there’s only so many choices. Put P1 on a team with P2 or P3 and the other side is extremely disadvantaged. By putting P1 and P4 together, they average out to ~51. P2 and P3 average for ~45. The game thinks that’s a valid matchup, but really nobody is going to enjoy it.

This happens in both pubs and competitive modes because it maximizes “engagement” from the worst players, as they have a higher chance of being carried to a win when they’re put with the better players. Those also tend to be the ones who spend the most money, so these companies cater to them at the cost of enjoyment for everyone else.

This is primarily a matchmaking problem

Current MM theory basically always puts the worst players on teams with the best players to “even out” the teams. But it leads to a terrible experience for everyone involved because the bad player gets constantly shit on and the good players are stuck trying to hard carry a whole team.

When that ends up happening for 1000-2000 hours of gameplay people get frustrated and call out the bad players.

Unfortunately wheel support isn’t great. It’s apparently workable, but not well put together, which aptly describes the majority of the rest of the game too.

I was kinda hoping it’d be good, and I might still pick it up for a more casual solo/offline experience, but it still falls short of even something like GT7.

BURN, do games w Meta Quest 3 review impressions - one of VR gaming's best options

Also since it’s meta PCVR is a complete second class citizen and won’t work as well due to technical limitations.

I’d still recommend a Reverb G2 to anyone who wants standalone PCVR with minimal setup needed. It’s far from perfect and the tracking is worse than the quest (tried both side by side), but it’s a great headset.

I mean, anyone who’s ever followed video game marketing knows they’ll promise the moon and the stars and only deliver a spaceship that can maybe hit orbit.

We shouldn’t blame consumers, but we should also be skeptical of any claim a developer makes about their game. NMS, CP2077, CoD, etc are all examples of over promise and underdeliver, and those are only the few I can think of off the top of my head. This is unfortunately the norm, not the exception. Starfield is a great example too. It fell a little flat on release because it turned out to be another generic Bethesda game, which wasn’t what the marketing promised, but is exactly what was expected by many.

Wait for reviews from reputable sources (not ign) and make decisions then. Don’t buy into the marketing hype that is all non-committal and doesn’t promise anything.

So you never played the game, but are angry about the content you didn’t get? Does that capture your experience well?

BURN, do games w Cyberpunk patch 2.01 now available

If you bought into clearly false marketing hype I’m not sure what to tell you. It’s a solid game that’s better than any other RPG released recently (outside of maybe BG3, which is so different it barely counts as the same genre)

It was never going to be everything promised in marketing, just like every other game released in the last 15 years.

Back to Apex Legends. Lot more casually this time. I’m a lot worse than I was, but still good enough to win a lot of fights.

Also trying to pick up CS2, but I forgot how bad my precision aiming is

I have to imagine he has something planned (inb4 GabeN AI Overlord) for after he’s gone.

He’s a bit crazy about prepping for disaster iirc. He lives in New Zealand now and has since the Covid outbreak. I’d be surprised if there wasn’t a very long document that lays out a lot of rules for if he’s gone and Steam is to continue

There’s no chance GabeN sells Steam. It prints money and only looks to increase their profitability over the coming years.

Microsoft can’t buy them anyways at this point I think. The regulatory bodies didn’t like ActiBlizzard, and this would be similar scale, if not larger
