According to a friend who had the displeasure of looking at the file size, he claims it’s 170GB when all is said and done… Stupid Sony square refusing to let steam preload…
I’m glad 8bitdo exists, at least they don’t have stick drift lol.
I’m actually kind of sad so many people deleted their reddit comments because I would have never fixed my ultimate C controller without a comment. I had no idea they had “hall effect” sensors or whatever so I thought I had stick drift until I found a reddit comment mentioning that you can’t have that and to just use rubbing alcohol to fix it, which it did!
What you mentioned is actually a comment I just made, but in favor of it. It’s just like konami and kojima, they gave him the boot because he’s a perfectionist and would take forever (but make an amazing game at the end). I see this as the same kind of thing. It’s taking forever but I have absolutely no doubt it will come soon™
Server meshing is the last major tech absolutely necessary for star citizen to run, for you to not be falling through floors, for box missions to work, etc. it’s all server issues caused by the fact that there’s only one server running everything for 100 people. Once server meshing is completed (early next year, a partial implementation is coming this summer) they can then move on to the already discussed “1.0 release.”
It’s actually coming much sooner than these ignorant lazy fools who write these articles would have you think. SQ42 is literally in the final polishing phases and during their big citizencon event this year they’re more than likely to announce its release date.
Well I can say for sure 100% vulkan will not get you any improvements at the moment especially as multi threading isn’t enabled yet, but with dx11 I’ve been hitting 60fps+ when I never did before this last patch. It’s been very smooth as far as my PC performance. Server performance will suck until hopefully later this year after server meshing is enabled and the initial jank is worked out.
You’re not going to have any luck with the general population. They’ve been conditioned to hate star citizen by all these lazy asshole “journalists” that can’t be bothered to look into what they’re writing about past the big dollar sign…
What really pisses me off though is we get the whole “stupid AAA publishers rushed out XYZ game to meet a quarterly financial report!” with every single game that comes out. “Why didn’t they just give it time to cook! Release when it’s ready!”
Now we have star citizen almost entirely backed by users with no date pressure as there is no publishing company forcing their hand and they’re building what will be the most amazing space MMO we’re likely to ever see because they have the time and the resources, but instead of awe we get this trash “ItS nOt ReAdY yEt!? MiLlIoNs Of DoLlArS!” article over and over and over again…
If they did actually follow the project they’d know that SQ42 is likely to be released next year and star citizen is already talking about release 1.0…
Thank you for that info! I have a really hard time spending a lot of money on myself so I’ve been putting off buying a vr set for years and years now, but if I was to get one it would be valve or pico because screws Facebook. Now I guess it’s just valve though…
Many of us preordered because at least for me day 1 performance issues don’t bother me. I loved dragons dogma and knew pretty much no matter what I wanted to play this.
Hiding that you have micro transactions until release day is just bullshit. I don’t know if that knowledge would have kept me from buying it though. Fast travel so far is pretty much non-existent as the ferry stones are super rare…
If you’re going to play DD1 you can 100% fail side quests for going too far into the story before completing them, but don’t worry! Quest anxiety can ruin the game, there’s a new game plus if you really want to 100% it, but with DD2 coming this week I’d say just have fun with it.
From what I understand the only thing that connects DD1 & DD2 is that there’s a dragon. Lol
It really isn’t though. For one you don’t “have” to buy anything except a starter package for $45, everything else is optional if you want to support development. There also isn’t really a “win condition,” there’s PvP, but it’s not like ranked matches or whatever.
Also those people buying the largest most expensive ships are going to be in for a rude awakening. You will have costs for managing ships that currently isn’t in the game, but when it is I imagine the big spenders will bankrupt themselves (in game currency). There’s also the fact that ships larger than a one seater will need crew so you can’t really do much with them on your own.
The prices of ships can be absurd, but I think the people that buy them are just shooting themselves in the foot. I’ve been a backer since 2014 and aside from the starter ship I only bought one “extra” cheap shuttle because I love having access to it through any wipe even though I could earn it in game fairly quickly.
That’s the ultimate goal though. Just last night I flew from a mining outpost on a moon to find resources, scanned a whole bunch, pulled out of my ship with a mining buggy, mined a bunch, and then logged out from my bed within the ship. 0 combat. That’s a life they want to have possible and I’m all for it! lol
I think it’s just that fps stuff sells and all the COD kiddies wouldn’t look at SC at all if they didn’t focus on pewpew everything. Hell they have a cargo ship that has an advertisement of it shooting its guns …lol ffs why? It’s just marketing bs.
They didn’t, they just had a big announcement on October that SQ42 is “feature complete” and that it’s entering the polish phase which is why they moved devs back to SC. The remaining teams stay on SQ42 as so-called “strike teams” to polish and tweak tech.
