Yeah, the technical error of enabling them before they meant to. Anyone who’s stupid enough to have bought a Ubisoft game in the past decade deserves this shit. There’s so much excuse-making about the way gaming companies are going, that they can all get fucked. I hope they enjoy their full screen ads.
They didn’t accidentally code everything for this, test it, put it in updates, etc. That was all on purpose, and they ‘accidentally’ enabled it to measure how much outrage was generated. If people make excuses for this shit now, it WILL be coming as a permanent “feature”.
He was already retiring. He planned on taking the fall for this obviously unpopular change, is getting his golden parachute for doing so - that way all the ire and hate will leave with him, and Unity manages to successfully move the overton window into bad changes, that somehow everyone is HAPPY about because they got the worse-changes first and they feel like “justice” has been had.
Reddit did the same fucking thing with Ellen Pao.
Introduced a whole bunch of bullshit, everyone got pissed at Ellen (an interim CEO) and then she took off and everyone was happy while being fed horse-shit because “justice” had been served…she was out of her…job that she was already intending on leaving. God, I hate that everyone are such suckers…
Lots of obvious astroturfing going on regarding this. I’ve seen this news everywhere from Slashdot to Reddit with people sucking Microsofts dick. It’s either that, or people are too young to remember the bullshit Microsoft pulled … since forever basically. People aren’t going to benefit from this merger. Microsoft is patient. Embrace, extend, extinguish is their strategy. 10 year agreements are nothing for them to wait out.
And it’s the same with every merger – “This will bring more competition, blah blah blah”, then merger goes through and half the people are fired, half the rest are rolled into existing systems, and some empty shell of the previous company just wanders along with no real spirit any longer.
I just noticed that. At the very end of the clip they mention wishlisting it now, so I wishlisted it. They say “early” 2024 - and it’s one of the few games I already know I love (H:ZD was so good, I watched a 12 hour playthrough with my wife over the course of a couple of days, and she said it was as good as watching a movie)…
Won’t care until it’s announced that I can play it on the PC. They released Zero Dawn like…a year after it’s exclusive launch on PS4 I think?
I’m still chomping at the bit for it to release on PC. If I bought a PS5, it would basically be a H:FW player, and I can’t justify buying a console for a single game. The PS5 just doesn’t have enough good titles on it.
And when you DO migrate it to a Microsoft account, and DON’T want them to have your phone number, they’ll fake “There’s been suspicious activity on your account, we HAVE to have your phone number now!” until you give it up.
