If you are currently able to login and play, then you should be good. I believe they blocked Mojang and Legacy accounts from logging into the launcher a while back.

Doesn’t hurt to check though. Make sure that the upper left corner of the launcher shows your Xbox Gamertag (may be different from your Java Edition username) and says “Microsoft account”.

If you purchased or redeemed a code for Minecraft for Windows 10 Edition in the past, your Microsoft account is eligible to get Minecraft: Java Edition for free. If you log into the Minecraft Launcher with your Microsoft, it should prompt you to set up a Java Edition username (separate from your Xbox Gamertag).

I know this comes across as one of those classic phishing emails that claim to require your immediate attention or else your account will be deleted, but unfortunately in this case it’s legitimate.

I got some clarifications from Unity regarding their plan to charge developers per game install (after clearing thresholds)

• If a player deletes a game and re-installs it, that’s 2 installs, 2 charges
• Same if they install on 2 devices
• Charity games/bundles exempted from fees

Regarding this being abused by bad actors:

Unity says it will use fraud detection tools and allow developers to report possible instances of fraud to a compliance team

I hope no one is considering this. The bonus is terrible and the earning of points isn’t all that great either.

It doesn’t specify how much 1 point is worth, but I’m guessing it’s 1 cent, so an effective 5% discount on all your Xbox purchases.

I don’t doubt there’s a market for this, I just wish for $200 it had more use cases than just “PS5 controller with a screen”. I have a Steam Deck with Chiaki4deck installed for this and while it does cost 2x, it’s a proper gaming machine and a computer.

I wonder what the internals are, and if it’s moddable.

games that are streamed through PlayStation Plus Premium’s cloud streaming, are not supported.

Would have been cool if they figured out a way to stream those games directly to the Portal.

EDIT: Looks like it runs Android, with Google’s services removed. androiddev.social/…/110939834517107216. Wasn’t aware that there were leaks that confirmed this.
