I kind of assumed it would be packaged with each game, a waste of space (but how big could it be?) but leaving a game with anti cheat a global dependency seems like a bad idea.
Lots of games with anti cheat auto work under wine/proton. The most on top of my head example is Elden ring. Runs fine on my desktop with arch, as well as my steam deck.
I still remember hanging out in a few of them around this time of year when stuff was decked out Halloween themed. Never did beat the expansions. Crazy how little detail the game seems to have by today’s standards 🤣
Recovered my account a couple years ago with support and providing my og serials. Can’t believe it worked but it punched me in the face nostalgia-wise when I got into it.
Yup. Last game I bought from them was Phoenix rising or something on the switch. Actually pretty fun. Until I learned I had to work around the forced login and online bullshit by throwing it in airplane mode at a specific time then suspending and resuming or some goofy ass shit. It’s a single player game. No I will not create and connect a useless account.
I swear the less A’ a game has in the context of “AAAA”, “AAA”, etc, the better it is.
In recent years I’ve found more niche or mid sized studios have my interest at heart. The more A’s a game claims to have, the more bullshit predatory crap it has, micro transactions, etc.
