I wonder if they might be able to add hand tracking later, since they’ve already got the cameras that’d to the tracking?
VR proper content Like what? If it’s a full blown desktop environment with steamVR, isn’t that as VR proper as it gets? 🤔 not being critical, trying to get what you mean! 🙂
no hardware upgrade As for GPU/CPU upgrades, I think if you wanna do heavy VR games like alyx it makes sense to stream from its dedicated dongle, no? Also they’ve talked about the ability to upgrade lenses and headstrap-audio and other stuff - so, besides the main board, it is actually sorta upgradable! 🙂
But then, isn’t that kinda where linux was at before steamOS kicked this revolution off?? Like, I had kinda dabbled in various linux distros here and there prior to steamOS and was always left feeling like it lacked complete polish - VR, gaming, easy app installs (outside the terminal, for normies)… All that has never seemed so well rounded – until steamOS blessed me with KDE, and since then I’ve mained Debian w/ KDE on all my machines (hopefully I can even main deb on my phone, one day!!)
Point is= maybe if a company like valve (or even valve themselves) pulls a similar approach with RISC-V that we’ve seen them do with steamOS, we aren’t wrong to hope for the same sort of outcome for it as well!
But, that’s just a dream I suppose 😅 here’s hoping!!! 🤞🤞
Yeah dude I totally agree! Mods are great in their own right, but there’s something to be said for the insane variety of gameplay you can get outta the base game!
Yeah denuvo is such a buzzkill. I used to dislike it on performance grounds alone… But dude, when I went to play dead space on a plane for the first time, and that lil fucker told me it required internet to allow single player gameplay? 😤 fuuuuuck that. Never again.
