I started on the first PSP game and it was heavily more obtuse, with almost zero direction, tutorial, hints, anything hahaha. It got a LITTLE better with later “old style” games but it was still pretty obtuse. World NEEDED a tutorial that explained every little detail and held yer hand, otherwise new players would be hella turned off by the game and it wouldn’t have blown up like it did.
Ah yes, classic Steam, paying devs big money to make their new release exclusive to Steam and unable to be purchased on any other lau—oh wait, that was another company?!
Well, at least now you have the capitalist monopoly here to save you! All hail!
I got it for cheap layer (I almost never buy new games) and found it kinda shallow and boring. I wanted to like it, I love the theme and settings but ehhhhhhhhh
It was hyped up to be Space Fallout and I did not get Space Fallout out of it. Even like… Space Bad Fallout. I just got mediocre space game.
When I was young my parents would not let me get DDR: Konamix. They wouldn’t even let me buy it to play with a controller. Nevermind that I’m at the arcade with all of my arcade friends multiple times a week.
I was at my local tiny game store hanging out as I usually did all the time, and the guy working there (I was maybe 12, he was like 24) EXCITEDLY asked “HEY I got my preorder of Konamix, do you wanna play?!” And I was SOOOOO ELATED to try. I told him about my parents and not letting me get the game, and he was like “yo that’s horrible, I am so sorry!”
I played there for about an hour, until he got off work. As I was getting on my bike, I hear
“RAI!”
“Yes?”
“This is yours.”
Like a movie with a sports guy handing over his jersey to an eager fan, he hands me his brand new copy of Konamix. It was the sweetest thing anyone had ever done for me. I told him he can’t do that, it’s his preorder, and he said “it’s okay, I can get another one; you can’t.”
My parents were PISSED (and they knew I didn’t buy it, I couldn’t afford 40USD at that time)… but they ended up buying me a shitty Madkatz pad so I could play at home. I probably put it 400 hours.
Thank you, video game store dude. I hope you’re doing amazing now.
Even a SATA SSD is gonna cut that down almost as much as an MVMe! I have both types in my machines and basically… as long as it’s not a hard drive hahaha
Brutalmoose (moose2 on YouTube) is the comfiest channel I’ve ever watched and the community he’s cultivated is excellent and full of nice people. He plays a lot of retro and fairly unknown games. He set up a bingo system where he draws a number, plays a game (starting with Windows 98) for 15 minutes, then everyone watching decides whether to play another 15 minutes or pass and draw another number+game. “Bingo98” was the first. It’s excellent and very funny.
Bloom and Rage is a perfect example of this. It’s a complete horrible garbage mess of soulless characters, terrible voice acting, horrible sound mixing, and a trash story and somehow it’s very positive. There are some negative, sane comments. I loved Life is Strange 1, but hooo boy is Bloom and Rage bad. It’s about a band and the music is not even music. It’s very funny, though.
