ByteOnBikes, do gaming w A wild night

But If I’m amputated I don’t have to work anymore and I can eat more sugar cookies and N64.

ByteOnBikes, do gaming w A wild night

Those cookies are absolutely disgusting. I can’t help myself but eat like the whole container.

Just sugar cookie frosting crack.

Then I end up convulsing on the floor from sugar overload.

ByteOnBikes, do games w 'Elder Scrolls Online: Lamenting a challenge-free landscape' - article by Biobreak blog

I thought I was crazy while i was reading.

I write like this on my personal notes. Maybe the author was doing the same and didn’t expect it to get shared.

ByteOnBikes, do games w Where do you find new games nowadays? (Both singleplayer + multiplayer)

I think I’m on the cutting edge of game releases, mostly focused on indie games. I have a huge Steam collection. This is also my nerd hobby.

Im subscribed to a bunch of game sales (like isthereanydeal) and casually browse steam pages every few days. I often play a genre then search for “games like X”. Lately it was metroidvania games. I found a game called Rabi-Ribi, which looks really uncomfortable to play. But the reviewers said to skip the dialog and ignore the loli, because it has really strong game mechanics. (And it does!)

Searching for indie games using steamdb with under 5000 reviews (lately I’ve been searching for games under 500 reviews), and checking them out.

I also make indie games as a hobby (nothing fancy!), so I like to look for inspiration from other indie game developers.

Lastly, Rock Paper Shotgun or Giant Bomb covers any big budget games I should know about.

ByteOnBikes, do games w Elden Ring is "the limit" for From Software project scale, says Miyazaki - multiple, "smaller" games may be the "next stage"

I bought the DLC a month ago and chip away at the game whenever the kids are asleep. I’ve spent 80 hours already and nearing the finish line. It’s crazy.

ByteOnBikes, do games w Game Informer shuts down after 33 years

You’re totally right.

I was in middle school when I had fond memories of gaming mags, and that’s probably when I was the most infatuated by the publications.

And by high school (2000s) it was getting weird and slowly dropping off.

At some point was the whole Kotaku gamergate BS and completely checked out of gaming news because it wasn’t just weird, but then it got real racist/sexist.

I remember absolutely being a fanboy in the 90s. It was so much better than it’s rivals like EGM and GamePro.

But around 2005, either I aged out of it or the magazine got worse. Then I remember GameStop giving it for free at some point. I just remember it being a shell of a shell of a magazine, as the rest of the gaming industry moved to gaming blogs.

ByteOnBikes, do gaming w What EldenSoulsBorne boss gave you an embarrassing amount of trouble?

Maybe not a pushover, but I died an embarrassingly large number of times.

In Elden Ring, some of the evergaols and bosses wandering the worldmap were harder than actual bosses. Ringleader’s Evergaol took me like 10 tries.

The dancer in DS3 made my wife and kids check up on me.

ByteOnBikes, do gaming w Paradox CEO admits company made "wrong calls in several projects" in wake of Life By You's cancellation

Shame since I really wanted a Sims competitor. Sims 4 is a mess of a game.

ByteOnBikes, do games w Steam Is Run By Fewer Than 80 Staff, Lawsuit Docs Reveal

I honestly think it’s a badge of honor.

I worked in a company where we had 1000+ engineers on a SAAS platform for three years. And it barely has the same relevance or reach as Steam.

The Microsoft Store and how to redeem games is so mind-numbly stupid. GamePass wowed me with their library and the subscription service. But how they do everything, from DRMing their games in a absolute mindfuckery app folder, to locking it into your Microsoft account and ecosystem, was so frustrating. Modding? Eat a Microdick. Hell, save files don’t even transfer between Steam and Microsoft GamePass games because FUCK YOU PLAYERS.

I’m glad Steam was extremely proactive at moving off of Windows.

ByteOnBikes, do games w Report: Resident Evil 7 on iOS has earned Capcom $28,140 since launch

Yeah. Unless they’ve some ulterior motive for porting their RE engine to iOS, then this is insane.

That’s actually a really good idea.

Port a functional blockbuster to iOS to ensure the engine works. And now you have teams experienced in the engine to build shitty mobile games.

ByteOnBikes, do games w Ken Levine says BioShock nearly went nowhere and was almost canceled: "We can't make those games because they don't sell"

“We can’t make those games because they don’t sell”

“We” as in Irrational Games? Or “We” as a industry?

Small 20 ppl studios are cranking out some really cool games that don’t need AAA budgets. They will be the ones making the next BioShock.

ByteOnBikes, do games w Home grown FPS a start

This is actually what everyone in my city’s game dev community did.

Everyone moved out to either Godot or Unreal, or using a custom engine.
