verysoft,

They should have just delayed the game until early next year, at least they are working on it fast though I guess.

verysoft,

Yeah I got 300 hours and the game starts to fall apart in act 2 and shits the bed in act 3, bugs and loads of inconsistencies. I have never crashed either. The fact they are not just fixing bugs but adding to the story shows that there was a lot missing and the amount of QoL features that should have existed from the start is insane. Their scope was a bit too big imo and they should have kept it a shorter but more polished game.
It's a shame because the start of the game was fantastic. Like I said though, they are working through it which is good, but doesn't change the fact I bought an early access game that wasn't labelled as such.

verysoft,

I wish I had the same luck. I have done a few play throughs (not all the way mind you) with friends and we encountered the some of the same bugs and new bugs each time. Some may be very easy to overlook and I imagine this is what a lot of people who 'dont experience any bugs' do subconciously. (You can check the patch notes for a list of bugs they have fixed and over the 5 patches, its a lot. So your curiousity can be quenched there I guess.)

However, when I enjoy a game, every little problem will stand out to me and when its stuff that exists almost everytime, then I wonder if Larian even played their own game (which funnily enough is a running joke between us since DOS2).

verysoft,

People will buy fucking anything, it's hopeless.

verysoft,

People love it and spend $20+ on these skins over and over again.

GTA 6’s Publisher Says Video Games Should Theoretically Be Priced At Dollars Per Hour (www.forbes.com) angielski

While Take-Two is riding high on their announcement that a GTA 6 trailer is coming, its CEO has some…interesting ideas on how much video games could cost, part of a contingent of executives that believe games are underpriced, given their cost, length or some combination of the two.

verysoft,

"I will pirate because you didnt give me sp dlc" is one of the craziest reasons ahaha. GTA 5 was good value all things considered, was a great game.

Bungie CEO Claims Layoffs Were Due to Destiny 2 Underperformance - IGN (www.ign.com) angielski

In an internal town hall meeting addressing a Monday round of layoffs that impacted multiple departments, Bungie CEO Pete Parsons allegedly told remaining employees that the company had kept “the right people” to continue work on Destiny 2.

verysoft,

Some of the fanbase finally started to realise they were just being milked.

verysoft,

I think they had the ideas guy in once every couple years and then they just reused the shit of the mechanic he came up with at that time.

verysoft,

It's an attempt at a quick cash grab by some publisher, abusing the LOTR IP and it's current resurgence in popularity. Epic Games only too. I wouldn't be surprised to hear later down the line how the devs have been on crunch to get a game out in a ridiculously short amount of time.

Space sim Squadron 42 is "feature-complete" and gunning for Starfield's lunch with massive new video (www.rockpapershotgun.com) angielski

Squadron 42 is the single player campaign of Star Citizen, that is supposed to launch as a separate game. It's basically a small portion of Star Citizen, but with a story and ending. I'm still not confident; waited too long for that.

verysoft,

I mean, if they pull it off it will be great, but until it's in our hands, there are no expectations.

verysoft,

It's all for game pass. They want to lock people into their favourite games with a subscription, that's where the money is for Xbox at the moment, all these buyouts are for securing their service as 'the one to want' before others clamber into the space. So I suspect things at ABK will continue as they have been doing for the most part, but with the games on game pass and maybe some more Xbox ports.

verysoft,

They are nowhere near getting a monopoly of gaming. It sucks that studios are becoming more consolidated yes, but it's not monopoly level which is why this merger wasn't blocked.

verysoft,

Steam versions of games just work a lot better. If Xbox had game pass on Steam, it would see a lot more take up I bet.

verysoft,

You say this, but Jeff was there when they started OW2. He was the one who even announced it and their plan to forcibly replace Overwatch.

verysoft,

Game with actual content vs game with no content.

verysoft,

That happens a lot in this game. The unclear outcomes. F5 a lot, cause auto save is practically non-existent.

verysoft,

BioShock and TF2 are fab, others are okay

verysoft,

It's impossible to get people to stop buying AAA games, but please, stop buying AAA games.

verysoft, (edited )

Id say BG3 probably falls into "III" or perhaps AA if you count Larian as such, they certainly didnt have a large marketing campaign on par with AAA.

AAA are games from large publishers that spend millions on development and marketing, so such as EA, Ubi, ActiBlizz, CDPR, Playstation, Xbox etc

verysoft, (edited )

I hope the OSRS wiki really influences others, that wiki is top quality, the best out there honestly. Fandom, fextralife and such can all die in a hole.

I am happy Weird Gloop have decided to host the Minecraft wiki.

verysoft, (edited )

AAA wouldn't remove macrotransactions to counter the higher price, they would just charge more for the game and keep everything the same. The current generation has been conditioned by mtx, it's no longer a whale problem. it's a norm that the average consumer accepts and buys into, which has fucked the industry.

Overwatch was priced at $40 on launch, it was just multiplayer after all. They priced it brilliantly and the mtx they had were pointless and non-invasive, a far cry to what that game has devolved into these days. Overwatch '2' was a forced patch which turned the game free-to-play and added all the aforementioned cancer mtx.
BG3 is $60, without any mtx. So I don't really understand the point you are making at all, it is just false that they were priced the same, BG3 didn't need to cost more, if it's cheaper it's more accessible to more people and the volume of sales makes up for the lower price, don't forget (like they want you to) there are a LOT more people playing and buying games now than 5, 10, 20 years ago.

Games are half-baked because people's standards have dropped and they will just buy half-baked shit, people still pre-order digital games... or they buy special editions to let them play the game 3 days early or whatever, the situation we are in is the fault of mindless consumption, not the fact game prices haven't significantly increased.

Until AAA games can remove the predatory monetisation, and gain our trust back, we should not be agreeing to be charged more. These companies aren't struggling, they are turning over record profits. Support indie developers, fuck AAA.

verysoft,

Not to mention until it's actually photo-realistic, it looks uncanny. It's better to find a style and use that than to chase realism imo. But then again, these AAA games just add a bunch of foliage, some god rays, maybe a sprinkle of rain and people are oooh, aaah-ing and coughing up their cash.

verysoft,

Yeah but that is super offensive!! Seriously, state your opinion and stop caring about votes.

verysoft,

Its not AC anymore though, they should have made a new IP instead of using an existing one on games that are completely different to the originals in the franchise.

verysoft,

I guess. I mean thats why they keep using the AC name though isnt it, they had no faith in their products to stand on their own.
I think all the recent AC games could have been a new franchise, they all are pretty much the same base game. I wouldnt even count AC4 as a AC game personally, I guess I just crave that beautiful AC2/Brotherhood experience again that we will never get.

verysoft, (edited )

You get "Larianed" a lot in BG3 just like you did in DOS2, plenty of inconsistencies, annoying pathing and quirks that make you wonder if they even played their own game before releasing it. But to put it in the same vein as cyberpunk 2077 is kind of disgusting. CDPR completely lied about the product, it barely ran on most PCs and didn't even function on consoles.

BG3 while far from perfect, is much more of a game than cp2077 will probably ever be and Larian are firing out patches left and right at the moment while CDPR are still forbidding reviewers to even use their own game footage.

Baldurs Gate 3 will go down as one of the greats. Cyberpunk 2077 will be forgotton about.

verysoft,

On just bugs I still disagree that it's anywhere near cp2077, but yeah there is a trend of games being buggy on launch and that defo has to be called out, especially when it's bugs that most people come across that are not even niche or very specific. Performance in act 3 still has a long way to go yeah, luckily it's not a fast paced game or a... shooter, so it's not the end of the world, but not very pleasant either.

verysoft, (edited )

Yep. The first few hours of a game are really important. If people tell me it gets better later I usually assume they are suffering from sunk-cost at that point. There are some games that genuinely start slow and end up really good, but it's not common.

Terraria is a 2D sandbox but with good progression built in with interesting bosses and items. The early game in these games are usually the most fun in my opinion, building up from nothing is satisfying.

verysoft, (edited )

Doesn't really matter, they don't need the switch to have bleeding edge performance, that isn't why it sells. It has to be affordable and using older processes helps achieve that.

(besides 5nm is only 3 years old)

verysoft,

So you mean actually remaster instead of remake?

verysoft, (edited )

Yeah, would spend ages as a kid lining up for a jump, only to end up jumping off to the left into a pit of wolves. Good times.

Oh, in game too.

verysoft,

tf u on about

verysoft,

That game could have been the game to end all games, but it took far too long. Ridiculous how much money they have made from it though aha.

verysoft,

Yeah, was so ambitious, but progress is so painfully slow. If they delivered on what they have said though, the game will be incredible, but I highly doubt that is ever going to happen, I gave up hope almost a decade ago.

verysoft,

The fact you need a 4090 to touch 120fps on 1080p in 2023 is disgusting. That should be the minimum target fps for mid range hardware at the least.
Meh, game is bland anyway.

verysoft,

Not having a 4090 = pc bad.

verysoft,

I mean theres certainly a game there, but its very much a game pass filler or a sale game. Its definitely not worth the asking price.
Its like Fallout 4 but with less going on all around you. The dialogue is improved I can give them that, but all around the game is pretty uninspired and bland, its very much a console game. Theres a lot better out there.

verysoft,

Ok sure, 1080p low settings, I can get away with a 4080 if I have an i9 13900K. 1080p high? Yeah, not even a 4090 with a 13900K will get you near 120fps.

The game runs like shit.

verysoft, (edited )

You are upscaling, I am talking native resolution.

Legendary PC developer says Denuvo is “a punishment to the consumer” (www.pcgamesn.com) angielski

Quote from the article: “The inclusion of intrusive DRM softwares [sic] like Denuvo is a choice that yields an unfair punishment on the consumer,” Running With Scissors says. “Respect the consumer, make a game they want to play, and you will never feel the need to fight piracy. The gaming industry deserves a better future,...

verysoft, (edited )

For clicks and to bait comments exactly like this one.

verysoft, (edited )

Not only preordering, spending almost 50% more on the game just to play it 5 days early. The fuck is wrong with people, no wonder the industry got like it is.

verysoft,

Yup, then just game pass for a month,

What's wrong with the Saints Row reboot again? angielski

I got it expecting to hate it, but as I kept playing, I found myself legitimately enjoying it. Not begrudgingly enjoying it, not enjoying it outside of one or two small details, but actually being engaged in the story and gameplay. Which leads me to wondering why people had a problem with this game in the first place again?

verysoft,

It's a shell of a game, it looks like an early prototype that was rushed out the door. And that's probably exactly what it is, it's an attempt at a quick cash grab using an old popular IP. If you enjoy it, that's fine, but let's not keep collectively lowering our acceptable standards.
