Title is tongue in cheek, of course—they probably are gamers. I get that making a game is complex and full of trade-offs, and you can’t please everyone. Still, there are certain design decisions that just feel like they weren’t made by people who play games regularly.
You probably want to watch a “beginners guide” video or two. There are tons of amazing mods as well, but you probably want to just play vanilla first to learn the basics.
It can provide literally endless hours of entertainment. The game itself is a “story generator”, and every single game will be wildly different than the last, forever. That’s not even an exaggeration, it’s kind of ridiculous actually lol.
I couldn’t believe it when they shut down the studio that did Hi-Fi Rush. They put out a great game that received universal praise, then shut them down like a few months later. Infuriating.

It is what it is. I had already accepted that I would probably buy it if/when Mario Odyssey 2 comes out, but then I saw the Nintendo Direct for the Donkey Kong game and it looks fucking dope. I think it’s the same team that did Mario Odyssey.
First party Nintendo games are really the only reason to own a Nintendo console anymore imo, and I could not care less about Pokemon and shit… But I’m a sucker for a good Mario game. The DK game looks like it’s on the scale of a Mario Odyssey or Breath of the Wild.
I understand why the games aren’t for everyone, but they are for me lol. The way he created the “strand contract” system was like crack to me, and it seems like they’ve only improved it for the second game.

spoilerThings didn’t really make sense until the ending, which was like 90+ minutes of lackluster shooting and exposition dump of “here’s what’s actually happening, doesn’t it all make sense now?” shit. Without that exposition in the literal ending cutscene, you would have no idea what the game was about. That’s kind of bad storytelling imo.

FYI, playing the Windows version with Proton is often better than native Linux versions. I almost always at least try using GE-Proton, even if a game has a Linux runtime.
