prole,

I feel like I’m the only one who didn’t think Hollow Knight was anything special.

Not a bad game by any means, but it’s kind of just a decent metroidvania with a cool art style. I’ve never understood the insane amount of hype.

prole,

Lower price does not automatically equate to less profits.

Lower price usually means more sales. More sales means more profit.

Things have an optimal market price at which they’d make the most profit, and it’s possible they did some calculations and decided $20 was it for this game.

Digital Foundry is backing up the claims that Nintendo seems to be discouraging switch 2 development from third parties (www.youtube.com) angielski

Saw this on some other sites. I was wondering why I didnt see too much development by 3rd parties for switch 2 specifically. There are messages online to use Switch 1 ATM because the dev kits are not available.

prole,

Yeah I was wondering why the Donkey Kong game didn’t come out until a month later when it should probably have been a launch title

prole,

Yeah Mario Kart and Donkey Kong are the only two games. DK is great, and MK is cool if you’re into that I guess… But it’s pretty ridiculous

prole,

Last of Us.

Life is Strange games.

prole,

Exactly… I’m all about stories that include all aspects of the human experience, especially ones that I’m not personally familiar with.

prole,

Honestly, you’re fine just watching a YouTube video imo. The second game is so much better in every way

prole,

I don’t think I’d say it’s my favorite game or anything, but if I had to choose one single game, and I can only play that for rest of my life, it would be Rimworld

prole,

Are you playing them in chronological order? Or did you start with the Crossbell duology?

prole,

Ahhh… I was playing them in chronological, but starting with Cold Steel. The events in Crossbell happen during the first couple Cold Steel game, and it’s interesting to read about it in the newspaper, and hear people mention rumors about it.

Haven’t finished Cold Steel 3 yet, and I’ll probably play the Trails in the Sky remakes

prole,

Buddhists are also capable of committing violence in the name of their religion. Look at Myanmar

prole,

I, for one, enjoy narrative-focused games, and would prefer if they didn’t go away completely

prole,

DDLC

Nobody knows what you’re saying, you should consider spelling out an acronym the first time you use it.

prole,

Yeah I’m aware of the game, but there was no fucking way I’m going to get that. It’s just common courtesy to spell an acronym out in parentheses the first time you use it. Pay attention next time you read an article on a news site that includes acronyms.

prole,

I didn’t think I was being passive aggressive, but I guess I was kind of annoyed so maybe it came through in the comment.

The thing about googling acronyms is that sometimes there are more than one. And yeah, I probably could have used context to figure out which one you meant, but I’m… just not going to do all that lol

prole,

No worries… Like I said, I was annoyed so maybe you’re not completely off base.

prole, (edited )

The game was in development from 2007 to December 2024 so not that far off…

It’s surprising how quick you can get used to the graphics with the amazing world building. I wasn’t sure at first, but now I love the visual style.

Obviously not for everyone though.

prole,

I’ve been playing Scarlet Hollow from the same devs, and it’s pretty good

Best World-Building Game Coffee Table Books? angielski

I recently started getting some CP2077 books (World of, Guide, comics collection) and discovered I really enjoy having nice, high-quality physical media that expand on my favorite worlds. I started poking around my favorite series and already have my eye on Hyrule Historia, the Dishonored art book, the Dark Horse MGS I-IV art...

prole,

The official guides for From Software games published by Future Press are great if that’s your cup of tea.

prole,

The Last of Us was more about Joel and Ellie’s relationship growing during their travels.

Had the hospital scene occurred within the first like ten hours of the game, Joel would have had no problem sacrificing her for a potential cure.

prole,

Seems like a recipe for an existential crisis

prole,

Why are people like this. How does this make gaming enjoyable?

prole,

Good for them!

I was just thinking recently about how amazing this channel is. They provide such a valuable service, and the space is so much better off with them as a part of it.

prole,

Yeah, LLMs are like if you called the Nintendo hint line, and the person on the other end just made shit up.

prole,

That was vintage copy protection. They would print the answers and stuff in the back of the manual, so you could only start the game (or get past a certain point), if you have a legitimate copy of the game (or just a copy of the manual lol).

There were all sorts of creative copy protection schemes prior to DRM.

prole,

I dunno, I feel like I wouldn’t use a walkthrough on souls like games until the second play through. Part of the fun is the discovery, and its fine if you miss shit the first time.

prole,

What’s the fun in that?

prole,

I was like you until I played Sekiro. That’s the one that made it “click” for me. Also very linear.

However, the combat and traversal are much different (better imo) than other From Software games.

prole,

I guess I just enjoy the difficulty of the boss fights in those games, so cheesing them feels like I’m robbing myself.

prole,

Very. I would recommend only playing it on controller. And it runs pretty well on Steam Deck. There’s an fps unlocker/resolution fix that makes it play better, but not necessary.

A lot of people will say it’s harder than other souls games, but it’s really just different. The combat is amazing once you get the timing down. It can feel like a rhythm game at times when you’re in the zone. And the feeling you get when you beat a difficult boss is second to none.

Still… Apparently not for everyone so

prole,

I did. Completely different lol.

Look, it’s like my favorite game ever, but it’s pretty hard and it’s not for everyone. I hope you enjoy it, but the game only ever seems to go down to $30, so I don’t want someone to waste money on a game they don’t like on account of me.

I guess it can refund it in Steam, though I’m not sure if 2 hours is enough time for it to gel. I’ve seen people say that the early boss, “Genichiro Ashina” is the first real test, and indication of what’s to come. That one will be tough, but it’s all about learning the attack patterns.

prole,

Are you kidding? The games frustrate the fuck out of me. I’ve rage quit countless times.

prole,

Good luck! Remember: Hesitation is Defeat 😉

prole,

Or the third option: someone enjoys games differently than you.

I rage quit the final boss of Sekiro (Sword Saint Isshin) after hours of trying, on and off, for days. Came back after a break of a couple of days, and beat him on the first try. The feeling was unmatched. I felt like a god lol

prole,

The XBone controller is more comfortable, but I really like the analog/adaptive triggers on the DualSense. That gives it the edge imo. The center button/pad can also be cool if used correctly.

prole,

The music and overall visual style are amazing. I don’t like anime

prole,

Everyone is in here talking about reading… The Director’s Cut or whatever its called, has full voice narration of everything. And it’s really good.

prole,

Half-finished, at best.

prole,

Fuck Cuno

prole,

Thirty years from now it will be possible to access all the world’s knowledge and communicate securely with anyone willing to listen, all without paying a cent to greedy ISPs or having your traffic monitored by government agents.

That’s very fucking optimistic.

prole,

Do you think “art” only means “pretty pictures”?

No DLSS

If I was reading a list of “games that should be in a museum,” and the author mentioned fucking DLSS as being an important factor, I would have exited the page immediately.

prole,

Yeah, somehow I doubt this is just an unfortunate unintended consequence.

prole,

Oh, I believe you just fine… I’m just not sure this is something you should be bragging about.

Maybe you should also care about things that don’t directly affect you. Just a thought.

prole,

Then you should tell your previous comment.

prole,

Well, for one, we’re talking about adults who are still obsessed with a series of children’s books, so…
