lustyargonian,

Ditto. Next big sale after 2.0 launch is when I’ll play it for the first time. I’ve not begun Starfield either, already we know they’re going to fix the HDR and add some QoL improvements.

lustyargonian,

Yeah I don’t mean make it a different game but stuff like HDR settings, eat button, mod support can make it a much better experience than what it was during vip access or launch.

lustyargonian,

It’s already improving almost every week. 3.5 update further improves Starfield’s performance.

lustyargonian,

This was before ABK, in fact around Zenimax acquisition time. After the excruciating process of ABK’s acquisition which also brought us highly costly leak, I think they won’t dare to buy a big player for now and no regulator would let that happen given it would be a horizontal acquisition if I understand that correctly.

lustyargonian,

They can do a Duracell themed one with this design lol.

lustyargonian,

When they are not making disc less consoles, they are making game less disc, either way the point of discs has been pretty moot on Xbox side of things. Halo Infinite and even Starfield are just licences on a disk, and I doubt that’ll be changing soon even if they add disc drive to the mid gen refresh or add a detachable disc drive. Only Sony and Nintendo are somewhat keeping physical media alive right now.

I hope EU intervenes and makes console makers allow alternate stores on the consoles just like they’re making Apple do that for iPhone, and make the consoles truly PC like, if they’re all becoming all digital.

lustyargonian,

Actually, Morrowind was an Xbox exclusive, and Oblivion was a launch game and since PS3 released a year later, it became a 360 exclusive. Bethesda also made Deathloop and Ghostwire Tokyo PS5 exclusive before being bought by Microsoft. So yeah, Bethesda has done such stuff in the past.

lustyargonian,

That’s great! I said that because PS3 didn’t launch simultaneously, by effect Oblivion became an exclusive.

lustyargonian, (edited )

True. It was supposed to be a launch title but got delayed

lustyargonian,

Started playing RDR2 after playing almost all games from the top of my backlog. Folks kept telling me RDR2 would ruin other games for you, so I saved it for the last. I’m still in the first chapter and I like it a lot. I like how it’s slow paced, feels more like a simulator so far. I’m also bit worried as folks told me you can miss certain side quests if you advance too fast, so I want to ignore all the main quest missions as much as possible. This caused my horse to die due to harsh winters right in the beginning coz I thought I should venture out a bit :p

I’ve also started playing Metro 2033, it’s a slow start and the controls are a bit wonky, but seems like a simple linear game so far.

lustyargonian,

6-12 months would be the earliest one can hope for.

lustyargonian,

It’s crazy how Forza Horizon came out of nowhere when NFS, TDU, GRID were having their time and has now become the benchmark of arcade racing. Or in other words, devs from all these franchises joined playground to make Forza Horizon what it is today.

lustyargonian,

It’s recursion time baby

lustyargonian,

The SSR looks so bad in the pond area! If they just remove it it’ll look much better.

lustyargonian, (edited )

I hope other devs chill out with ray tracing, especially with unreal engine. We’ve seen very rare implementations of it on current consoles that actually are desirable (Metro Exodus, Spider-Man/R&C, Doom Eternal) and all are on bespoke engines that don’t upscale from sub 1080p (maybe not Metro Exodus).

lustyargonian,

Wow, they could’ve avoided so much drama by just telling folks that an update would add FoV slider, HDR settings and DLSS support. Better late than never I guess.

lustyargonian, (edited )

tl;dr

Update: I was wrong, the good bits will come later, for now it’s just quest fixes. Thanks /u/Zyrxil

Now;

  • Bug fixes and crash fixes.

Later;

  • Brightness and Contrast controls
  • HDR Calibration Menu
  • FOV Slider
  • Nvidia DLSS Support (PC)
  • 32:9 Ultrawide Monitor Support (PC)
  • Eat button for food!
lustyargonian,

Yeah I just realised that. The way the post is structured is a bit deceptive, but eh, I should have read it properly.

lustyargonian,

Does this game have a difficulty slider or is easy for folks who find it really hard to git gud or don’t like to scan through wikis to cheese every boss?

lustyargonian, (edited )

Looks cool!

Billboard trees and lack of fog, detailed reflections and shadows were tradeoffs of last gen that at that time weren’t as perceivable as they are now, when compared side by side. I wonder what the next gen would look like? Accurate RTAO, RTGI, RTR and no ghosting artifacts? It definitely feels like we’re near the end phase of graphical fidelity. I mean we can improve infinitely but it’ll come at extremely diminishing returns and insane amounts of pixel peeping.

Maybe the focus would shift towards realistic animation blending and pixel accurate collision physics once everything is path traced and uses photogrammetry. Thanks for listening to my ramblings.

lustyargonian,

Plays game for 2 hours, rates poorly

“How can they review it without completing it”

Plays game for 60 hours, rates poorly

“Why are they rating it poorly if they spent so many hours on it?”

lustyargonian, (edited )

I think there are too many exceptions to this that the best way to truly know is to play it for yourself. I hated Death Stranding, Control, Days Gone, Final Fantasy 7 Remake, Fallout 3 and many other games in their initial few hours, but as they opened up they quickly became my one of my favourites. I’ve started my first playthrough of Witcher 3 and in the first 3 hours I’m not yet impressed, but I’ll give it a good chance before dropping it. Not sure if Starfield is any good but given its systems, it’ll probably need some buildup time I guess.

lustyargonian,

I’ve played the base game, and unlike HZD you actually have a limit to amount of traps you can set, so it is less of an important mechanic at lower difficulties. In fact you can’t dodge enough as well, so the combat is really engaging and challenging.

lustyargonian,

Ah, here it is like 3 I think. So you’ll probably hate it :p

lustyargonian,

If they can separate main game/dlc/multiplayer/new game+ achievements, that would be great

Starfield from the NPC's Perspective (youtu.be) angielski

Huge thanks to Bethesda for trusting me to be goofy in your world and for letting me make whatever I want. Once again I was tasked with making a four minute animation and we wound up going way overboard. Yet again it's my most detailed animation yet. Excited to dive into Starfield and you can too!

lustyargonian, (edited )

Does it contain spoilers?

Update: it doesn’t

lustyargonian, (edited )

Damn this is a pathetic response. He could’ve said “We’ve tried our best to make it as polished as possible before launch, and are working towards further optimising it to give you the best experience, wherever you play”. Even if they did jackshit, it would not come out as condescending and snarky. Maybe he wasn’t prepared for a tough question on the spot right at the beginning of the interview, but it does show how he thinks about his games. In his mind, the game running at all on PC is optimised enough.

I am not saying he’s bad for not making Creation Engine super optimised engine on this planet, I’m saying he’s bad for not acknowledging it is currently most demanding engine despite looking merely half as good as Cyberpunk 2077 or idk Arkham Knight.

lustyargonian,

There isn’t.

lustyargonian,

I think it was known since 2 years now, so maybe they didn’t bother publicizing it on the page. In fact, MSFT said they won’t be putting any games on Xbox One anymore.

lustyargonian,

I mean, yeah I guess this does help temper expectations that they are done optimising, so maybe you’re right, being blunt is probably for the best.

lustyargonian,

I think MSFT Store on PC, Xbox Store, Steam, xCloud and GamePass.

lustyargonian,

We already know; Skyrim and Fallout 4. They still drop frames on current gen consoles!

lustyargonian,

It’s funny how Xbox is getting tighter integration with Discord even though PS made a partnership with them.

lustyargonian,

Devs need to chill with all these features. I was playing Shadow of the Tomb Raider and it runs at upscaled 4k60 and looks miles better than this one.

Of course, this is from a small studio and using nanite and lumen probably saved them a lot of time, but what good is that time saved if most PC gamers can’t play it and it abuses upscaling technology by running it at 720p and looking all fuzzy.

And before people start blaming Series S, even PS5 port struggles to run at 720p60 in this game as well as FFXVI, which is a PS5 exclusive. Jedi Survivor does the same and I can’t understand why do they think this is what we want from games in the current gen.

lustyargonian,

True. Though FFXVI, for example, has its own art style which looks pretty good, but whatever they’re doing with the tech is just too much for the PS5. Somewhere it feels like the devs overestimated the capabilities of these consoles.

lustyargonian,

This looks really cool. Monke is kinda hot ngl. I wish I was good at these games, or this one had a difficulty slider.

lustyargonian,

I don’t think the term applies here. Hallucination, when it comes to AI models, is when they make up random data with no basis. This, on other hand, is interpolation. It compares two frames and predicts the intermediate frame using motion vectors. And FSR3 isn’t even using machine learning, it’s a bespoke algorithm that they have written.

Approximation would be a fitting term here, just like many things in rendering technology are.

lustyargonian,

I guess different words come to our minds and that’s okay.

lustyargonian,

I played Skyrim AE right after Horizon Forbidden West and I kept finding the simplicity and visual clarity of the game to be so damn beautiful. The game has the right amount of clutter, right amount of volumetric fogs and right amount of texture detail to be easy on eyes and believable as a consistent and functioning world.

lustyargonian,

If it was a mistake, how the game now coming to Series S proving that? The only thing it proves is that split screen is a demanding feature and MSFT shouldn’t impose parity of that, which they shamelessly accepted after the success of BG3. It’s still a good console to play modern games, of course not at best fidelity, but I don’t think that matters.

Edit: just realised you’re saying that with an incorrect conclusion that split screen wouldn’t be coming on Series X. Well, that isn’t the case, and probably brings the game to more people with least amount of harm.

lustyargonian, (edited )

Is that 220 number the first party games or all 360 games the aren’t backwards compatible? I thought the number was in thousands.

Edit: I was wrong it is 220 only.

lustyargonian,

So you need a $500 console to use a $200 handheld streaming device that doesn’t have bluetooth so you probably will also buy a PS Link capable headphone that’ll cost another $200.

Those are some big bucks to avoid using steamdeck or switch.

lustyargonian,

Yeah I know, but the kind of audience it’s targeting may not be carrying wired headphones to use with their streaming handheld that only works on WiFi.

lustyargonian,

Idea is to show CMA that they are preserving competition.

lustyargonian,

Is it multiplayer like rainbow six siege or multiplayer like coop in normal far cry games?

lustyargonian,

I was actually thinking about the Delta Force 4 few days ago, wondering whatever happened of the series, but then I thought far cry and cod kinda took over and provided much more fun FPS experiences over the following years.
