Oh I’m sure it’s not wasted work. But any content delivered now, for free, is in direct competition with buying a whole new game, probably for >=$70. I guess they’re very confident in the new game modes or something.

I’m surprised to see this update- I thought MS were making a “new” Flight Simulator for this year. I’m aware that content creation and game creation are usually quite separate but odd that they’d be release stuff to “keep” you on the “old”/current FS iteration.

About 20 years ago when it first came about this was also a question and Valve said they would “find a way” to unlock games for everyone. Now back then, that was when they only had Valve games on Steam, and a weird ninja game that I bought but never played, setting a president for all time…

If you’re using Steam (or any kind of shortcut I suppose), add --skip-launcher to the launch options. Here’s how to do so with Steam:

• Right-click the game in your library and select Properties.
• Look for the Launch Options field at the bottom of the General tab.
• Add “–skip-launcher” and close the properties window.
• Launch the game as normal.
