Maalus,

Except that isn’t how it works, and could lead people to buy a library for a day, then opensource it.

Open source means any code used is widely available to anyone. Having a library you pay for means it cannot be widely available, or nobody would buy it. No more licensing game engines, paid libraries cease to exist since there is no incentive to make them, everything goes the “open source way” which means hard to use, opinionated, unintuitive software that is maintained by random people who rarely know what they are doing. No online banking, since you can’t certify that easily and it wouldn’t be profitable. No card with points and goodies in your supermarket for the exact same reason (points have a calculable value in real money). No online healthcare, etc etc

Maalus,

“Imagine everyone moves to electric vehicles, gas stations close down, and people start sueing Ford for releasing a gas car 30 years ago” is the better analogy.

Maalus,

Okay, but then leave it ambiguous and let people think of the character whatever they want. It doesn’t matter if doomguy was gay, it matters that he slays

Maalus,

Or just remove what’s costing you so much?

Maalus,

Bad rng ruins games. When it’s done correctly, it’s fun. You have to seperate what’s fun from what’s not. It’s fun to hit a 20 and instantly delete something form existence. It is not fun to “do everything right” and still be punished for it.

Maalus,

Indie devs: suddenly I’m a millionaire thanks to this one-hit-wonder game that I spent 6 years making. I think I’ll keep updating it so people keep buying it.

AAA companies: We need to pay 400 people over a course of 2 years. 30 million is less than 10% of the budget

Maalus,

Are they delivering the product? I was a kickstarter backer, and still don’t have the singleplayer campaign that was promised. How long ago was that?

Maalus,

Pretty sure I said “singleplayer” in response to you saying “they are delivering the product”. Which is false, since I can’t play it.

Maalus,

I can’t play Squadron 42 like promised - ergo it wasn’t delivered. Stop being a fanboy when a fact is a fact. It’s an absolute truth, you can’t change it by weasiling around it.

Maalus,

Kinda looks like the old tribes. Can’t they make something with good graphics? Even Ascend was outdated and this seems like it

Maalus,

Not how it works. They have assets already made. You don’t redo character models, weapon models for a beta release. At best you use stand-in models, when it’s not important to look good. This isn’t a stand-in model, replacement or anything else. A spinfusor is a spinfusor. It has all the animations, all the textured. Game has motion blur even.

Best that’ll change is the lighting, explosions etc. But the map is already looking bad for 2023, so do the models. I’m not holding my breath for better visuals.

Maalus,

Okay, I do. I don’t want to play an ugly game when there’s so many great looking ones out there.

Maalus,

You do realize the release date is q1, 2024 right?

Maalus,

Or maybe don’t make an ugly game, that works too

Maalus,

And can you remake all of the assets in 4 months?

Maalus,

Because I like games that look good, plain and simple. I’d be playing boomer shooters otherwise

Maalus,

Maalus,

GOG has shown that drms are never needed. More often than not, denuvo causes issues to the player, and gets bypassed by a pirate easily. It is simply there because gamedev companies think they get something out of it, when in reality they don’t.

Maalus,

Does it though? It seems like Valve is targetting the fact, that you can’t run the same game on a different platform for different amounts. So if Valve gets 30%, and some other store gets less, then they ask you to not run it cheaper. I.e. you can’t sell on both stores for $40, and then set a permanent -30% sale there.

Maalus,

Never had an issue pirating a denuvo game.

Maalus,

Yeah they can, they just don’t have to sell on steam.

Maalus,

The same right as epic games has to prevent a game from going on Steam, or anywhere else, for the first year.

Maalus,

Can I create a shitty service that only me and my brother use, and then sue Steam cause they have more players? It’s a dumb lawsuit, plain and simple

Maalus,

No, it doesn’t.

Maalus,

Have they added better PvE content? Last time I played it was awful, didn’t respawn. No threat to the base either

Maalus,

Depends on the game iirc. If you get banned in a Valve game, you don’t get to play multiplayer in any Valve game.

Maalus,

Blizzard has already been doing that for a while. Also failing with new franchises, not investing in their core games, half assing releases. I hope they actually turn things around for games like Starcraft, Diablo, HotS etc

Maalus,

Why would they be worse? We have a bunch of good games out of Microsoft. I don’t see how they could fuck it up

Maalus,

“worker said they’d work if offered the chance”. As a long term Rayman fan - it’s not happening till proven otherwise. And by proven, I mean released.

It’s a great universe and getting more 3D Rayman is my childhood dream. But it’s been so many years of the character being sidelined, there’s basically no chance of a return. Especially since the creator of the lore left the company in disgrace

Maalus,

Starcraft 3 is the point

Maalus,

There are some games made by SC devs or SC players, we’ll see how it turns out. I would like to see SC3 with full financial support of a AAA studio.

Maalus,

Yeah okay, let me want what I want instead of trying to convince me not to

Maalus,

Ffs buddy, learn to let it go. I mentioned the two games in my previous comments already. Then I mentioned I would like an actual Starcraft 3 from Blizzard. You don’t need to point me at anything, just accept someone else wishing for something and move on.

Maalus,

Redundant doesn’t mean worthless. It means that you have a duplicate or something, or someone is already doing the job that you are doing. Your work still is worth something, it’s just not needed anymore.

Maalus,

Phone VR isn’t really VR. It’s a poor excuse of an attempt. It’s pointless to compare gearvr to anything in the actual vr space.

Maalus,

There is a huge difference between gearvr and any sensible VR like the Vive, Pimax or Index. I’ve tried both. Gear made me almost barf immediately. I’m playing Project Wingman with no issue on the other headsets. There is a huge technological difference.

Maalus,

Nope it didn’t. It was a buggy mess on release with huge performance problems and missing features.

Maalus,

Chuj wie, ja mam 30stke i ciagle to slysze.
