I’m commenting on RDR2 because it’s my last finished game, and I also had trouble getting into it at first three years ago. Particularly the slower pace and the pretty low intensity of events, initially when you’re at Horseshoe Overlook (the first camp the gang stays at). The thing is it builds up slowly, bit like a movie, or a show. And it never stops upping the ante, at some point it throws at you spectacle after spectacle, and at this point you are possibly so invested in the characters (character writing being nothing short of excellent) that you’re all in this cowboy fantasy. Basically it’s a slow first quarter and then you’re in for surprises
You can also do overscan, but that’s costly since you’re rendering a bigger picture (I am not a rendering engineer but have experience with offline rendering)
There are uses of AI that are proving to be more than black and white. While voice actors, have protested their performances being fed into AI against their will, we are now seeing an example of this being done, with permission, in a very unique case.
The point is, the reviews represent a game that’s not the one being sold. Additionally, it’s reasonable to believe this was done on purpose. This should be simple to understand ?
One of the big winners of the Unity debacle is the free and open source Godot Engine, which has seen its funding soar to a much more impressive level as Unity basically gave them free advertising.
I tried playing Terraria but gave up after an hour or so, precisely because I expected at least some kind of story and there wasn’t. It was also very awkward to control with a mouse and keyboard, I think it’s really supposed to be played with a controller. I might try it again now that I’ve got one, and less expectations
Well yea, it makes sense that you would compare a new game with previous games from the same studio in the context of a discussion asking “did the owner/publisher help improve the productions of said studio ?”
I’ve had one bug in Starfield so far, my right thumbstick stopped working. 😂 I had to restart the game
So, like HaloCEA and Halo2 Aniversary. But these work fine because the originals already had decent geometry to work with. TR1-3 though ? The levels are basically cubes upon cubes. Not sure how they’ll make that work
A Starfield remake, of sorts, has been created in 48 hours, incorporating seamless travel between planets, something missing from the actual Bethesda RPG.
According to Hans-Kristian Arntzen, a prominent open-source developer working on Vkd3d, a DirectX 12 to Vulkan translation layer, Starfield is not interacting properly with graphics card drivers.
Fidelity is always going to have diminishing returns. Perhaps there’s something fishy going on in the video card business, I don’t know that, but as someone who works in CGI, the evolution we see year after year makes sense, it’s not like there’s a hidden untapped potential
As far as I know that’s what graphics drivers do, like, all the time. Every major title is handled specifically. I am not a developer. I heard this from engine developers
This is just classic corpo shit, developing their own proprietary stuff when no one asked for it. Apple with Metal too. Then it falls on developers to write abstraction layers
