I have nearly 1000 hours in Baldur’s Gate 3 and JUST NOW learned that Jason Isaacs was the voice of Gortash… I did recognize JK Simmons but honestly wasn’t 100% sure it was him until the second or third time meeting him and finally looking it up on IMDB to confirm (and somehow still missed Jason Isaacs - I did learn about Matt Mercer’s role as Minsc which still blows my mind).
Same. Honestly my eyes aren’t good enough to notice a difference between 1080p and 1440p (or 4k) at the scale of my pc monitor, but I damn sure notice a difference between 60 fps and 200 fps…
My only quibble with this is that I’m not sure I’d classify larian as a AAA studio. Not when you’re comparing to Activision or Bethesda or something. The game is absolutely amazing, I’ve put over 700 hours in and am still playing it. I can’t think of any of the big AAA studios releasing a game that comes close anytime in the last decade.
In case you’re out of the loop, the old Steam Deck had Philips screws that screwed into self-tapping plastic holes. This lead to occasional stripped threads and often stripped screwheads....
You’re missing the point of this post… They specifically made a change to make it easier to open and put back together without damage, which is not the norm in most related industries these days. That’s a good thing that we have been conditioned not to expect because of companies like Apple that fully do not want you to open your device ever for any reason.
Your comment sounds like “well you can’t open an iPhone without damaging it, why should you be able to open a steam deck without damaging it”… Very much corporate overlord shill vibes.
I usually play games on “normal” difficulty these days, for a balanced challenge. However, I don’t particularly enjoy boss fights, or at least I don’t enjoy the extra challenge associated with them. Was thinking it would be nice if games had a separate setting so I could just set boss fights to “easy”, while not...
I feel like you’ve missed the point of the post. Not everyone likes that style of game or has time to put in being savaged by an overly difficult game. If the devs don’t want those people playing, that’s fine, but those people are still allowed to hate the games over it.
“no, you’re supposed to hate playing it. That’s what makes it fun” some people like to get choked, but if your try that shit on someone that hates it, expect a bad time…
The problem is that, using this analogy, when someone who hates getting choked says they don’t want to try Brazilian Jiu-jitsu, a bunch of bjj fans come around telling them how awesome it is… And when the person says “that’s cool, but I just don’t like getting choked” they get told that’s the point of bjj, it’s awesome to get choked out…
Again, it’s fine if the devs want to make the game not have those options, but they also have to understand there are people that will not buy them or play them because of it. Fans of those games also need to understand that there will be people that hate those games only because of that reason. No amount of telling them “but that’s what makes it great though” is going to change their opinion.
Everytime someone says “I stay away from souls-like games because I just don’t like to play a game that is so difficult”, there will be someone replying either telling them off or trying to convince them they are wrong. We literally aren’t buying the game then complaining about it, we are explaining why we won’t buy those games.
Morrowind was on another level compared to modern open world games. Map markers? Nah, fuck you. You get old world directions like “follow the road south east out of town and take a left at the fork then turn right at the crazy broken Dwarven machine and you should find the dungeon my brother went exploring”.
Then the main story quest giver tells me to “come back after two moons have passed” to continue… I thought that meant two MONTHS. Left the dude at level like 3 or 4 and came back a walking God of death because I nearly completed all guilds side quests in 2 months… Learned years later he just wanted me to wait 2 fucking days.

Either it didn’t teach you anything at all, or it taught you the most irrelevant parts of the game.
