It is chargeable if you have made a certain amount of income on the game in the last 12 months, which should hopefully prevent too much impact on existing games.
Not content with their subscriptions, they now want a revenue share.
I used to like open world games that would take 50+ hours to beat but I feel like as I get older these games can be intimidating to even start and I often get sidetracked with other games frequently only getting half to three quarters of the way through....
Wholly dependent on the game. Lots of Indies feel like decent, self contained games ranging from 3-8 hours of gameplay. Gris, Inside, Abzu, Thomas Was Alone, etc.
Because a lot of people aren’t experiencing much in the way of performance issues yet? I’ve not yet reached Act 3 where I hear it has the most impact so performance has been fine for me, like the vast majority of the userbase at this stage, I imagine. I’ll see how I feel once I hit Act 3.
Patch 2 is around the corner. It features major performance improvements, many new tweaks & changes, and begins our journey incorporating feedback into Origin Character epilogues, among other major things. Details coming soon.
This is not a criticism - I love how much attention this game has been getting. I’m just not understanding why BG3 has been blowing up so much. It seems like BG3 is getting more attention than all of Larian’s previous games combined (and maybe all of Obsidian’s recent crpgs as well). Traditionally crpgs have not lit the...
It’s not perfect or anything, but it feels like a release with very pure intentions and people seem to resonate with that. No micro transactions, no lootboxes, no DRM (not even Steam’s is implemented), no release day DLC, fast hotfixing, and maybe with the promise of classic expansion packs. The sort of practices that people want to encourage, packaged with a formidable and generally well put together game.
When bigger, more corporate dev studios come out and give it free marketing by saying how unrealistic it is to make games like it… that’s free, excellent publicity.
I was a bit taken aback that, at a certain point in the game during a celebration, neutrality with most companions meant that they all wanted to fuck my brains out. O.o
I don’t think anyone at Larian thinks that they have created the perfect product. It’s pretty buggy still, and lacks depth in areas, but its intentions are pure and that buys a lot of credibility in and of itself.
Yeah, it feels a bit less grimy doom and gloom, despite the narrative and themes. Being fully voice acted, and well, helps to no end with what can otherwise turn in to a wall of text reading slog.
Awww… Come on… Bloodlines was built on something akin to a pre-release of the Source engine. Cut them a little slack on the bugs, it could only ever be a flawed gem.
A company will want to pay voice actors a one off fee to train their voices, cut them loose, and then licence it out in perpetuity. Probably with greater legal protections than the underlying actor.
If anything, someone needs to create a more effective marketplace for actors to licence out their voices rather than just handing their livelihoods over in a single payout deal.
These companies planning to become unnecessary middlemen between you and ChatGPT seem to be kind of short sighted. If you’re not providing your own (often stupid) insight then what do you really provide beyond writing prompts and saving the result on your site.
